Should I place a template on all my products?

A recent post by Drinkmoore mentions templates.

I use templates frequently for names and monograms.  Sometimes I format a blank template.  But...

I do not always include a template and I am now wondering whether it is a good idea to always include one, somewhere, even if it is not visible on the design.  ( place only a space in the template text field)

Hi SilverSeas, The reason Zazzle is placing high in Google rank is because it is basically the only personalization POD, so why not do what customers expect when they visit Zazzle and your shop? Allow customers to personalize your products, use text templates. You will likely make more sales with personalized products.

I don't put templates on my (original) photography for products like wall art (canvases, posters, prints, etc.),
but for designs that celebrate events/milestones (weddings, retirements, births, memorials), yes, templates are very much required.

Worth mentioning,to add to my previous post, the customer should be able to have the option to delete/remove the text template if they don't want to use it.

There are some designs that shouldn't have a text templates, but they're very specific to the subject. For instance, I've a number of designs that are, essentially, music theory charts, which look silly with templates. However, I've also used music theory as a decorative design to which templates are added.

It's likely best to consider the design itself and what it will be used for. Templates wherever and whenever it makes sense, which is most of the time, but don't  push in a template where it doesn't belong.

Oh well, SS, it should be renamed and called nevergetdone list, or neverending Z list....Cause as quickly as you get one thing done, something changes on Z and then you get to experience the never part of neverending....

Took a quick look at your shop, Here's a suggestion about your tomato, lemon, etc. slice them open, photograph the slice, and repeat the slices, another way to present your veggies and fruits. Use them (slices) as a border, put them together in an image...

@SilverSeas  I don't know if all your products suffer from a tag problem, but I looked at one of your agate designs, and it appears you quickly ran out of steam in the tag department. It's certainly an "agate," but it's also a "semi-precious stone," a "beautiful rock," a "jewel stone," "chalcedony and quartz," ...and I just ran out of my own steam, but by doing a bit of research, I bet you can come up with more tags. The thing is to imagine someone searching Zazzle for your picture, imagine what that person might type into the search box to find it. Tags are king here on Zazzle, so try your best to fill the full complement of ten tags.
