Does a Collection need to have a minimum of x# products in it to show on your Collections page?

I created a new Collection on the 7th. ("Other", Active, and both Channels are enabled.)
The next night (the 8th) it still wasn't showing on my pubic list of Collections so I added a banner and cover for it.
It is now early morning on the 11th, so over three days, and the Collection still is not showing on my store or member Collections tab. I can get to it via a direct link even when not signed in, and it also shows in the "other Collections you might like by ..." scroll under other Collections, so I know it's not set to Private. I know "indexing" is slow on many things, but over three days for a Collection to materialize seems extreme so I am wondering, maybe since I have so far only added two items to it, that that is why it's not showing?

This is the Collection.

@ColsCreationsI've found that you need at least 6 products to get the bell notification that you've got a new collection but it should show on your member page as soon as you create it at least.

I have an empty test collection that appears.

I can see your two products in your collection but clicking through to your store/profile - it's nowhere to be found.

Could be a borked one or indexing is really - really slow.

I'd remove the products from it before you delete it and try again this time creating a new collection set it as Home & Living - Gifts and see what happens

The last time I created a new Collection was in June when I created two of them. They are both set to "Other - Similar Style/Theme" and I don't remember there being a delay in them showing up on my Collections tab.

Earlier this afternoon I changed the Collection in question to "Home & Living - Gift Theme" as you mentioned. Still now tonight not showing. I'll give it 'til tomorrow afternoon and if still not showing I will take your advice to delete it and create a new one with that classification.

Well, still not showing on the 12th. Think it's stuck in a black hole so I am going to do as you suggested and just delete it.

Ok, so I re-created the Collection today complete with "cover" image for the little square one that shows on the page of collections, and a banner. I choose "Other" as the main first category and then "Cross-Sell /Event Suite" as that best fit and I think? that as long as that first main category is "Other" it shows as the old-style scroll on the product pages and not the new Pod style? Is that right? I know it (the new POD style) only shows for certain types of collections which I thought was "Cross Sell" but since that's not the main/first cat to choose, I'm not sure now. I guess I need a "safe list" of what type you can choose without it being displayed as POD.

Anyways, now I am wondering if I should wait a day or so for the new & empty collection to "index" before trying to add any products to it as I don't want to have it stuck in a black hole again.

I waited a day but collection still not showing publicly. Decided to add my products to it anyway just now, from the back-end product page. And huh, on the menu that opens of Collections to choose from, this one had a little lock icon on it. Added the products anyway and on the actual collection page, there's a little icon & note under the description that it's Private. I remember seeing numerous posts about this in the forum but didn't pay attention to what the solution is. Searching, seems the only solution, per Scott, is to wait as it's an indexing thing with new collections.

My first now-deleted attempt at making this collection never showed after five days of waiting. I don't know though if that one had this same Private issue though, It's possible it had the lock icon & Private note too and I somehow just didn't notice it.

The collection is showing to the public now, as of this morning. 👍
Since I don't know when last night it finally "indexed" and stopped being Private, I can only estimate it took about a day and a half to index & be publicly displayed on the Store and Member tabs.

How I think it works is that the POD format rather than the scroll format only shows up when there are required and recommended products. The arrangement then follows a fixed format. Only a subset of cross sell has required/recommended products and shows that way. I made a list. No other collection types have required/recommended products.

Cross sell with required/recommended products:

  • Holiday-New Year's Day
  • Holiday-Easter
  • Mother's Day
  • Father's Day
  • Graduation
  • Back to School
  • Holiday-Halloween
  • Holiday-Thanksgiving
  • Holiday-Hanukkah
  • Holiday-Christmas
  • Birthday-Adult
  • Birthday-Kid
  • Business+Corporate
  • Baby Shower
  • Birth Announcement
  • Gender Reveal
  • Bachelorette Party
  • Bachelor Party
  • Bridal Shower
  • Wedding

Any collection that is not on the above list (which is a subset of cross sell) will show as a scroll and will not have required/recommended products.

Thank you! That's just the "safe list" I needed.

I have heard a minimum of 6 products is needed. While I can see the collection in your link, neither product has an "also in this collection" scroll.

KeeganCreations

When I started it was 7 but then at some point it reduced to 6 or maybe 5. I just checked and I have one collection w/ 4 products and those have the scroll under them. Another collection with only 3 products, they do not have a scroll. So I think 4 is the magic number now.
