Harder to Add New Products to Collections

It’s harder to add new products to collections since the collection update. It’s also more cumbersome to create a new collection, but I can live with that.

Can you please restore the old way of adding new products to collections?

Not all of the new changes have proven to be improvements. And in the case of adding new products to collections, it’s not an improvement.

With the addition of cover photos now being a required item on collections, creators don’t need changes that increase our ever increasing workload.

Thanks!

Just curious what feature you're referring to because I haven't noticed any difference - seems like adding things to collections works exactly the same as it did before - it's actually better because when the collection popup comes up it shows you if it's already in a collection. Maybe there was some other way to add things before that I didn't know about?

After I post a new product, I use the Edit Details feature and choose Add to Collection. Previously, I got a scrolling list of all my collections in alphabetical order (with the most recently chosen collection at the top). The list scrolled through all my collections, and I could choose one—or more collections—to add the new product to.

Now I get a small list of 3-4 collections to choose from and I have to use a new Search feature to see another choice in addition to the 3-4 collection choices shown. If I can’t remember the name of the particular collection I previously created then I can’t search on it. Plus, it doesn’t show me all the categories at once, so I can no longer add the product to more than one collection—or uncheck a collection box to remove the item from a current collection.

The new way to add an item to a collection via the Edit Details/Add to Collection feature is a lot more cumbersome to use.

That's strange. I still have the Add to Collection link in the top bar, and it looks the same as it has for a long time. Are you saying you don't have the add-to-collection link?

Hmmm... now I'm really confused. First, I don't know any way to add to a collection from within the Edit Details popup. I'm guessing I misunderstood? But anyway, for me, when the collections list comes up, I've got a small group at the top called "recent" and below that is the full list in alphabetical order, and I can scroll through all of them (I've got 210 collections.) I didn't have any problems adding something to more than one collection, and the list even gives me a star to show me which one is the primary. I'm wondering if something is wrong - like if it wasn't working right when you tried it or something?

Same here. I have never used Edit Details to add to a collection. Didn't know I could.

I feel you! I also feel like the new system definitely doesn't simplify things!

Oh, is there a link for adding to a collection when on the collection management screen? I didn't even realize this. I'll have to look for it. Is this where you're having problems?

I think I found it, but it seems awkward as all get-out.

I agree with @Jadendreamer13  it is a lot harder to add multiple products to a new collection (that's not yet created) in the store back end.

I used to be able to select the products, bulk edit details, add to collection, create a new collection and then boom - job done.

The Add to collection new window pop out doesn't have 'create new' as an option - only a box to show selected only and search collections.

So maybe a Create New Collection in the Bulk Edit options is needed or a way of creating a new collection in the Add to Collection pop out

I'd rather it remained the same as it's been, creating a new collection while in the back end and then bulk choosing the products to go into it. Straightforward, uncomplicated. After that, I'd be happy go to the collection page and do all the fine tuning.

My problem with collections is when I create a new product the one I want to add it do says not eligible?? The ones left do not really fit in! Do I have too many items in that collection? I am puzzled with all the different things to do or not to do! I do not see a lot of changes others are talking about that have change, mine look the same. What a huge change all at once, I feel like I am wasting my time and spinning my wheels!

Like a lot of us, you probably need to wait for Zazzle to expand their information. I, too, ran into problems after working on a number of my collections, realizing I'd likely have to do them all again, so I've halted again.
