Mixed Up Grannie

Wow, what a mess, I am so confused, there should be easier explanation, I feel like I am stuck in a whirlwind and doing a huge amount of time on what I had already created! I appreciate you are trying to make things better for creators! When learning something new, Ii like Step one, step two and so forth with very clear visual instructions that are easy to understand! I am not getting this at all, I am sure I have made a mess of what I have tried to do! I love zazzle, but I am older and not as quick as you young girls!

if you put your mouse so that it hovers over the upper right corner of a product within a collection, an ellipsis (...) will appear. click on the ellipsis and from the dropdown box that appears, select the third choice ("Remove from Collection.")

@Margielyn: I wish I could have given you multiple kudos for your post. I feel the same as you, and because I do, I'm not working on collections for the time being. I can't guess at what we're supposed to do, how we're supposed to do it, and even why we're supposed to do it without step-by-step instructions with solid explanations.

I would like to join your group, @Margielyn and @Barbara ! As far as I can figure, my stuff just doesn't fit. Anywhere. And I absolutely agree that the explanations and directions are horrible! But what happens if we stop working on collections? Is there a danger that our products will fall into "Other Land" and not sell? I can see this taking a long time to clarify.

@k8hayes and @Barbara if we keep trying maybe we will get unterstanding??? I am trying to figure out how to remove a product from a collection, do y'all knows how to do that?

Barbara, I have been trying and get orange thing on some of my products, I think It must be in another collection, but how on earth do figure that out!  Good, luck, too many new things at one time!

I suspect there are a lot of us sitting in the same boat. I know of someone else who looked at the new version of collections and is now waiting it out the same as I am. I'm not sure Zazzle expected everyone to do this all at once anyway.

As for removing a product from a collection, I just now checked it out, finding that, if you go to the product's page and click on "Add to collection," then scroll down to the collection it's in, you should see a "Remove" button next to it. Did you click the button but it wasn't removed?

Yes that worked with deleting from collection!!  Thank you so much! Another question, I had same product in other collections, looks like that is not the case in the new collection! Soooo, @Barbara do you have knowledge about this? Thanks!

The problem is also compounded by there being bugs in the new system.

so if you think you “get it” but it doesn’t work, then it’s hard to tell if it’s your understanding or it’s the bug. You’re not on your own..

Yes... this! The announcement with it's big "It's Here!" title also made it sound like the changes were live, which they clearly are not. So I spent the first few days bashing my head against the wall trying to figure out why nothing I did on the back end was reflected in how the collections looked.

I spent even less time than you, Cat. Because I started out with a few niche collections, I quickly saw I'd be doing a lot of mysterious work without gain, given that most of my collections are of the niche type or simply a specific design on a variety of products. I'd be tossed into the Other heap for lack of "intent," and so I decided to leave and wait it out. I've noticed people are trying their best to guess what it's all about, and maybe they've guessed correctly, but I just can't do it.

@Margielyn: I gather you can't have one product in multiple collections, though I don't know for sure.

@Barbara, words of wisdom, I will get back to  designing until they get this all working! Thank you!

I'm just working on the ones that are flagged as needing attention or the ones that say they didn't migrate. The rest I'm gonna wait on because it just feels like I'm spinning my wheels since I'm not even sure how it's all supposed to work.

I made sure all my collections were at least green/live, then wait it out and came here to learn more!

That's what I've been doing--turning them green. I've seen one of the new layouts, and truth be told, I really like it. Now, while I'm waiting for more categories for us guys who don't focus on weddings and things of that ilk, I'm slowly remaking my collection covers because Zazzle now wants them at something like 2048 pixels square. Over 200 collection covers to do. I had a lot of them on my external drive and I thought I could resize a lot of them. I turned on the hard drive to retrieve those covers, and it promptly had a heart attack and died. What a fine example of Murphy's Law.

@Margielyn @Barbara  - You can have one product in multiple collections. I have several old collections with multiple products shared. It looks as if deleting from one collection WILL NOT delete from the others. When you are in the Collection Mgmt area and click on the ADD PRODUCTS button at the top, you can search for your subject matter (from the related store I think) and if the product is already included, there will be a check mark, if not, check it to add (uncheck to delete maybe)

I am with you and everyone else that responded. I have spent way too many hours on my collections. If you are an oldtimer on Zazzle, there have been many changes over the years.

It makes me feel so much better to know I'm not the only one confused by the new Collections and other changes Zazzle is making.
I've never been able to figure out why Zazzle lets us make changes but often does not show them straight away...which leads to so much confusion. Did a change work? Did I do something wrong? Oh, no...hold on...Zazzle needs 24 hours to catch up to show the change. What the????
I have a bad case of Zazzle Frazzle!

Not 2048 square! The covers are supposed to be 1480 square. I got most of the numbers right, though a bit out of order. LOL
