As 2026 is here, we wanted to remind Creators about updating year dates for your product templates, such as invitations, save the dates, graduation announcements, stationery (calendars/planners/notebooks) and more.
To help keep your year product templates current, we have some tips on how to handle this:
A "20xx" Template
We understand that changing the dates on a design every year takes time. When creating a product design that includes a year template, we suggest using the format “20xx” as the placeholder year for your templates.
- Why? This prevents you from having to replace/edit the "root" product every year. It keeps your design evergreen, preserves product history, and avoids confusion for customers, like seeing a template that still shows a date from 2016 and assuming it’s outdated.
Use the "Current Year" in Metadata
While using the above method for your templates ensures the design stays evergreen, you can still make your designs current. Use your titles, tags, descriptions, and Cover Images to showcase the specific year if you choose to do so (e.g., "2026 Graduation Invitation"). This advice is meant to guide users who generally do add a year to their designs.
- The Benefit: Updating metadata is a quick fix that any Creator can do, allowing you to pivot your entire storefront to 2026 in a fraction of the time it takes to redesign products.
We encourage you to check your top sellers and if they have an older date, it’s the perfect time to give the design and product listing a refresh!
