First of all, thank you Zazzle for listening to our suggestions. I have noticed the new fonts and I'm very excited, to see the additional script fonts, however, I don't see Blooming Elegant script or the other Blooming Elegant font on the list. I did go to a product on the marketplace where the designer had used the font and it did indicate in the design tool that it was blooming elegant but I don't see it as a selection in the fonts available. My question is will this cause a problem with designs that have already been made and will blooming elegant be back because although it's over used, I do like the glyphs that can be added. Thank you again for all that you do. I hope I'm not just missing something, I did check several times for the missing fonts.

It isn't a disaster. It will be alright. Give it an hour or so to setting down. So far my products look fine!

Yes Morgana is huge. A size 6 of Blooming Elegant Script is definitely not the same as a size 6 of Morgana.

I was able to find a product where Blooming Elegant Script hasn’t auto-migrate. So I compared the same text in a size 20 Blooming Elegant Script against a size 20 Morgana and the Morgana was 1.5 times larger.
So even if some of you think that Morgana is a decent replacement, you would still need to edit your designs, because it’s largeness would have crowded a design which previously wasn’t.
I was also able to do a comparison of Dongle against Blooming Sans and have to amend what I said before about Dongle being bigger in size than Blooming Sans. It is not bigger but longer. This is because the same TRACKING value of 0, Dongle appears 1.1 times longer than Blooming Sans making it seem like the font size is bigger. This means if auto migration happens a designer have to edit either the Tracking of Dongle or make the text box larger to accommodate the same text, if not your text might move to another line. What’s worse is the LEADING. The same LEADING value of 1, Dongle appears almost 2 times as compared to Blooming Sans. So if you have multiple lines of text, it is going to occupy a lot more space vertically.
If you have products that still haven’t auto migrate try it yourself.
That’s the problem with fonts. Even when on the surface they look like they could be reasonably similar, their attributes like KERNING, LEADING and TRACKING are going to be different sometimes vastly so. So you would need to go in into each design to adjust. There’s no such thing as “automagic” the term Zazzle has been using
Anyone STILL think font retirement and the subsequent auto migration a good idea?

Just wait until they auto-replace it. It looks almost perfect. I guess they resize it to fit. Here's a comparison- the top one was changed to Morgana, and the bottom is still Blooming Elegant.

Hi Connie, I agree that in some phrases Morgana does look almost identical to Blooming elegant script, like in your case "graduate" is almost the same, but in other cases like in full names it does not look similar at all. Take a look on my post (located here, much lower from this post) where I also added two images to compare. One with Blooming elegant script, the other with the exact same invitation just with different back that was already changed by Zazzle to Morgana, and in this case it does not look similar at all, and the size doesn't match either! ..So sad, so many designers have use Blooming elegant script for client's names!!!

The fonts do look very similar. But I am seeing a different problem in this example (I think). The bottom original is in gold foil but it looks like the replacement was put on the standard layer rather than the foil layer. So if you want foil back you'd still have to do the Replace thing.

I used Blooming Elegant Sans quite a bit. Can Zazzle at least tell us which font will be replacing that? It's not a script and I thought that was all we had to worry about right now. It still seems to be showing as Blooming Elegant right now - and even indicating that in the customizer even though that font isn't listed.

I am so sad about losing both Blooming Elegance fonts-the script and the all caps. Dongle is just not a good replacement for my designs. And I don't see anything new I like quite as well. Morgana seems fine and on the product that it was replaced it was resized and looked ok.
I wonder what they will be replacing the Sugar Plums Bonus words with? Nothing is a comparable replacement for those. I do not see how they can "auto replace" those at all without messing up my designs completely.

I'm also quite concerned about this extremely popular font family being retired and replaced. I recently created designs using all three, Blooming Elegant, Blooming Elegant Sans, and Blooming Elegant Hand - they immediately started selling! - the design is on the last product I sold... Customers love and want this font!! Please don't retire it.

The whole thing makes zero sense to me. Unless the designer of the font is requesting removal I just don’t understand why they are doing this. If that is the case just pony up some money to make them change their mind about the use lol. It’d be worth it to save such a heavily used popular font. Why ruin hundreds of thousands of designs and years of work. Shooting themselves, customers and us in the foot. Pass the wine….

Another thing, can you imagine the hoard of customer chats we will have to respond to when these people come back to reorder and the fonts aren’t the same? We will be bombarded for god knows how long asking about the font. I don’t think there is enough wine for this mess… lol.

Another major concern: Customers who bought some products for their wedding earlier this year, now come back to buy matching items - which no longer have the same font - which means they are no longer matching items. This will totally mess up their suite.
ETA: I have one customer who is currently working on a seating chart for their wedding next month. She has purchased quite a few matching items thus far, recently table cards which had the BE Sans and has now been changed to Dongle. What if she needs more table cards? She isn't done ordering her complete suite and the font has already been replaced.

The other thing that I have noticed (quite a while ago ) and never have mentioned it before.. and forgive me I do not know the correct terms,, but when we used to put in text.. we were told to bring the text box to the edges of where we wanted to allow replacement text to be, typically the edge of the allowable print area.. now, it doesn't matter how big we make the text box it always reverts to barely hold the lettering we have placed in the text box - so if someone puts in a longer name or wording.. the new lettering drops down to the next line.. a royal PIA.. but if it was back to staying put , some not all but some of the new font replacements may not be quite as messed up

Ok, I don't feel quite as nauseated now. I checked and they're starting to migrate some of my older business cards to the new fonts. So I had 2 different colorways of the same design – 1 changed & the other not yet changed – open on 2 separate pages so I could evaluate everything side by side.
Morgana is not a bad choice to replace BE script. It does have a thick/thin going on so I'm curious to see how it would knock out of a color. (Those versions of my cards haven't changed yet.) I wish it was a tad more bold. But it works. They also adjusted the size so it takes up pretty much the exact same space as BE script. In terms of the swashes, I didn't use swashes on those business cards. But I have a ton of graduation products that use BE with the swashes & they've also started to migrate over. Morgana does have swashes but they're not very long. I have additional art over 1 of the swashes in these grad products that now is touching so I'll have to move it and change each product. While I'm at it I might try to find a better substitute font in this case. I have a couple of hundred to deal with here.
And the 2nd font on all those cards, of course, is now Dongle. Not loving it – hate the rounded corners – but it is a fair match. In the auto-migration, I see they made all the copy in the personalization area all caps so it fits absolutely perfectly in the original space. Same with leading. It works. Not what I would have chosen, but for me to switch to Futura Medium, Open Sans or something else, I would have to change the size/leading/etc. on everything. I've also used BE sans serif for the secondary typeface on the bulk of my invitations. So there's thousands to rework. Just not worth it if it's matched in the allotted space.
Of course, I've used Sugar Plum quite a bit but none of those products have yet migrated. Also, I actually have a few Disgusting Behavior & Anthology (which is another 1 to add to the discontinued list).
So I'm sure I'll still have to change a ton of products, but it's probably not the few thousand I originally thought. It's acceptable, although not what I would have chosen. Still dumbstruck over the decision to discontinue BE & the others. Seriously, could it have been that bad of a licensing deal with these fonts that Zazzle felt the need to go to the disruption of messing up so many peoples' stores? Now we're left with wasting time fixing things, when we could be making new products, instead.
In addition, this does not even address the problem of what happens when our customers reorder. Mine do. And at a later date, they will also order matching products – banners, stickers, etc. What happens then? Will the average customer notice the font change? Maybe, maybe not. Looking forward to my chat filling up with questions & the subsequent many returns.
Will be shaking my head for a very long time.

Good to know that they made the Dongle text in all caps, to match BE Sans. It's an ugly font, but in all caps I guess it's "ok" for now.

Hi everyone! I have noticed the switched of "Blooming Elegant Script" to "Morgana" font in a few of my products. In some cases the change looks okay, it appears similar in size and placement, (Morgana was in deed adjusted to fit in similar size to my previous text in Blooming Elegant Script) although the style of the product does change a bit as the "Morgana" font is not as delicate looking as the "Blooming Elegant Script" font was.
Unfortunately, I did notice that in some other cases, the new Morgana font was not adjusted in size correctly and does appear bigger in size and weight, compared to Blooming Elegant Script. You can see how the new Morgana font impacts the font size and style of the product with the images below.
Original invite with Blooming Elegant (in name, mass and reception text):
Second image shows exact same invite (with a different design on the back) with Blooming Elegant Script already replaced by Zazzle to "Morgana" (look at the name, as well as mass and reception text).
In my opinion the invite with "Morgana" font looks heavier and a bit too full, compared to the original invite in Blooming Elegant Script. I also find Blooming Elegant Script to be more delicate and soft with more curves while Morgana looks more pointy and sharp... what do you think?
I hope Zazzle reconsiders and decide to keep the Blooming Elegant Script and Sans fonts as clients have responded so well to these fonts, specially in wedding and invites products.
One more issue to consider. For all of those designers who added their own "cover photos" with products with fonts that now have been replaced, those cover photos will be showcasing the product with their old fonts! Not only did they took a lot of time making this in-situ cover photos, but now they will have to delete them, or they will cause a lot of confusion among customers and probably will receive messages asking how their products will look like, with fonts as the cover photo or as the preview photos?!! 😳

To me Morgana looks LIGHTER, not heavier! It has that thick-and-thin look of calligraphy, so that makes it look airier and more delicate. Blooming Elegant has a more uniform weight, so it looks a bit darker. And I'm happy they found a font with similar universal tails.
I do wish they would keep the Blooming Elegant family, though. The Dongle font for the Sans is awful!
You bring up an important consideration with cover photos. I guess I'm happy I only just got the functionality, and haven't gotten around to making very many yet!

Thanks Connie for your reply. I just don't like how the invitation looks anymore 😞 I guess I will have to make some adjustments and replace it. I'll just wait for a bit and see what happens. I'm sure Zazzle will get a tone of comments about removing Blooming Elegant font family. Like you I wish they keep it!

Laura, you are right!! OMG all our social media posts will show products images with retired fonts!! True that some products look almost identical with the replacement font, but not all, like on the case of my invitations from the images above. Even if Zazzle manages to make changes to all our old pins, which would be an enormous task and I don't think they will, we still have our own blog posts and Instagram images!! Another thing for Zazzle and designers to consider, thanks for bringing it up!!

What I'd like to know with Blooming Elegant font family being automagically transferred to another font, will the product's modified date change when that automagic happens?
How can we keep track of those that are updated automagically so we can check it or change it if needed?
Question for other designers - If you've found a design that's been updated, has the modified date changed at all?

hello folks,
I don't know about the new fonts, but for the old fonts, Ellizabeth, Primadona, and LadyLove do have ligatures, and they're still active (at the moment). Ellizabeth has more extensive sets than Primadona and LadyLove ... see screencaps of all three below.

@WHS_Designs thanks for the chart! But at the risk of sounding very stupid, what do you need to do to access those ligatures in the Zazzle design tool? In the past, I just did a copy & paste from someone else's blooming elegant swash word...

It was Vivendulies who put together these charts (see the post below for specifics on how to add ligatures to a design). I have copies in my saved designs folder. Let me see if I can publish them.

@Marcia
ok, I've made them all Direct-Only so customers don't go in and order them by accident (fingers crossed). originally, I tried setting the royalty to 0%, but couldn't do that.
Ellizabeth Font Ligatures Chart | Zazzle
Primadona Script Font Ligatures Chart | Zazzle
LadyLove Font Ligatures Chart | Zazzle
To add a special ligature to your design, hit Edit Design and find the ligature you want (it will correspond to a specific character in a specified row and column). Click on the appropriate text box, and then select and copy the character. I usually paste it into Notepad first, especially if I have more than one ligature to add. In Notepad, it just looks like a rectangle with a black outline (don't panic -- this is what it is supposed to look like).
From Notepad, you can then copy and paste it into a text box in the Zazzle design tool.
Hope this helps!

Thanks so much! Got it to work. But I'm wondering how you can just play around with individual swashes. I know Everglow has some, but I'd like to see all there is to choose from with that font. (I really think I need to get more technical – lol)

Good to hear. 🙂
That was why I asked for a ligature control panel -- so that these charts wouldn't be necessary, and so that we could see what could be possible from a brainstorming / (pre-)design aspect.

You can use Character Map or Nexus Font (for Windows) or Font Book (for Macs) to preview ligatures of fonts that are installed on your PC or Mac (unfortunately, there is no free (preview) version of Everglow Script ... it's strictly a pay font).
ETA: I'm going through the font list to see which fonts have ligatures (this should take a while).

Usually when you purchase fonts (depending on where you purchase them from) they come with a pdf that has all of the special characters (glyphs) so you can see them and copy/paste them into your project. It would be really nice if Zazzle could make those pdfs available to us.
