I am creating a product where I want the customer to be able to enter the name of a place. I want that text to fill the designated area defined by the text template I've created.
As I test entering text before publishing, I am running into a problem where a customer will likely enter more letters than allowed into the text box than my sample text displays. When that happens, the text adds another line.
I would like the text to reduce in size, and stay within the defined text template area. I don't know that this is possible...
If someone knows how, please share...
Thanks,
PC

I've never seen a setting for text to reduce in size in the text box.
When I make a text template box, I stretch it to reach the edges of the design space (to the blue guidelines) then align/resize my text to the middle (or justified depending) so if the customer has a very long name - it shouldn't become two lines (in theory)
Could you use a long word in the first place for your sample text to get the ball rolling so you know what you have to play with? The customer could enlarge the text size if needed I suppose.

LOL... before I hit enter to post this, I had thought that this would probably be the solution. I also went into the marketplace and looked at how others were using this "name" that I want entered and it occurred to me that I am placing way too much emphasis on this part of the design. So moving it to a different location and shrinking it in size makes a lot of sense. Once I do those two things, the design aesthetic changes and your suggestion works.
Although I do think it would be useful to be able to lock a text template field and have the text change size depending on the amount of text entered...
Cheers,

I agree 100%, this would be so helpful! Pretty please, Zazzle?

The text does not need to resize - The creator just needs to put in the appropriate space and allow the buyer to add what text will fit. I used to add the number of characters that will fit but can not do that anymore. This is a flaw in the system.

The customer should not have to enlarge or reduce the text size. The box needs to lock. I do the same thing you do but it stopped working like that for me a while ago on many items. I believe that is why I have not been making as many personalized things as I used to. 😞

It used to be possible. I have come across this annoying problem a lot lately. I should be able to set an area size for the text and put in any size I choose. I usually leave enough space for people to add a few more characters. Lately this has not been working and it is making me mad because things I made years ago are adding lines when only one extra character is included. There should be a way for us to lock the text area so it remains that way,
