Saving and Uploading Images

Hi everyone! I have a lot of images saved as jpegs, which I would like to use on Zazzle. I have been resaving these jpegs as jpegs for Zazzle, but now I wonder if I should save them as pngs or perhaps tiff for Zazzle products so that their quality does not degrade. Thank you all for your help. It is so appreciated. : ) Cheryl

Either one is fine - depending on your content- photos or graphics one or the other may give you smaller files which will make them easier to upload.

A couple things. If you are working from an open PSD file and doing a “save as” multiple times to make jpg files, you shouldn’t worry - you are not doing multiple compressions. That only happens when you open a jpg then re-save it.
There’s some pretty awesome text tools here. I’d highly recommend making use of them and the template capabilities as much as possible.

Leaving them jpg is fine - Z shouldn’t be re-saving them as jpgs, which is how/when you’d see image degradation. If you are making changes and re-saving you should choose a lossless format, rather than jpg when you save.

Ok. Thank you. I guess I should have said that I'm having to download the images from another site I sell on because I don't have them stored anywhere. So I am not making changes but am having to resave them to my computer to upload to Zazzle. : )

Then you should saved them in a lossless format, rather than re-jpg. The artifacts from jpg compression get more apparent each time the image is re-saved, so the general rule is to only use jpg once.

Ok. Would you suggest png or tiff or another format?

Sorry; I just realized that it looks like I can save my jpegs in my downloads and then just upload them to Zazzle. Hopefully this will work. Unfortunately I see now that I've been resaving my open psd images as jpegs over and over by undoing my text and adding new text to make greeting cards series (instead of closing the open psd document each time and reopening it to edit.) Although they were approved on my other site, I bet they lost a lot of quality with each new image.  Boohoo. But thank you so much for all your help!! Cheryl : )
