When I first started getting sales on Zazzle I began keeping a little map of where orders went across the USA. I wasn't keeping track of any details, just coloring in states when I'd get my first order there. It was fun seeing my map slowly fill in; each new state landed was a milestone to celebrate. I've shared my map a number of times in the forums - when I've been extra excited over finally landing one of the stubborn states! - and it's always generated a lot of interest from other Designers in being a fun idea, with many starting their own map. This week I decided to recreate my map in a multi-layered format that allows complete customization of every part of the map to make a really unique personal map one would be proud to share or feature on their website, blog, social media, and other promotional efforts. Here's what my custom map looks like (Montana is my sole hold-out): Even if you've long ago "filled in" the entire US, a custom map paired with a slogan and your logo or a QR code can be an eye-catching marketing gimmick for your website, blog or social media promotions. My blog post here includes the link to download my free .psd map template, no signups or subscriptions etc necessary. Take a break from studying analytics and writing tags and slaving over the perfect template to have a little fun in creating your own custom map. π If you create a map, would love to see how you customized it! So do come back and share a pic of your map (or a link to your site/blog you used it on).

Hey everyone! π Iβve been busy building out some free tools over at printablepretty.com that I think a lot of Zazzle creators will actually find useful. @1WhoConquers Copying part of your comment from this thread in the Tech forum to start a discussion here as I have lots of questions and am probably not the only one who could benefit from understanding more about RSS feeds and their potential as a promotional tool. I am appealing to the teacher in you to approach this from the angle that I (and other readers) know NOTHING yet about RSS feeds so need to start with the very basics before going into advance uses. π Don't know RSS? Oh, now you've opened a can of worms! I really need to write this up for the tricks and tips board, but I'm a teacher at heart, so here we go... RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a tool used to conglomerate various sources of information and "push" them. As a person, you would use an RSS reader app, tell it all the websites you want to read regularly, and have it just pull all the new info regularly so you don't have to remember to go back to all those spots manually. Handy for news websites and blogs. And Zazzle has been kind enough to give us RSS versions of all our stores' URLS. Not only that, you can add an affiliate id to the RSS URL and it will automatically get translated into affiliate commissions. I have a basic understanding (which is likely wrong) of what an RSS feed is and I know we can make them for our Zazzle stuff. I think of an RSS feed as something you embed on a website in a little box so visitors can scroll the box for all the latest whatever from the site the feed is for. So like maybe it would be for weather or breaking news or all the latest articles regarding a certain topic of interest to your visitors. So in my mind an RSS feed is something you add to your website/blog (maybe we'd call it a widget now?) for the benefit/interest of visitors. But it seems like from reading it's the reverse, that RSS feeds are made by viewers so they can "pull in" stuff from a website without actually going to the website. This very first concept is where my brain starts going into convulsions. Is the webmaster making & displaying RSS feeds for visitors to their site, or are visitors setting up their own RSS feeds to monitor the website? The last time I gave any thought to RSS feeds was several years ago. What I realized then was that to see an RSS feed you need a feed reader app, otherwise you just see a string of behind-the-scenes coding gibberish like this when I click your link in the other thread to your sample RSS feed. I use Firefox as my everyday default browser and it does not have a feed-reader built-in. I recall searching for a feed-reader add-on and the choices were too numerous & complicated for a beginner who just wants to see what an RSS feed is supposed to look like these days. So keeping all this in mind, my first questions as a total beginner are: 1) Can you recommend a simple RSS feed reader add-on that will let me see feeds as intended? 2) If you add a feed "widget" to your site/blog, what does it look like to people who do not have a feed-reader add-on? I have tried Googling up examples of sites with embedded RSS feeds and get nowhere, just get results that tell me how to add a site's content to my own reader app. Sigh. 3) If ones main purpose in using RSS feeds is to promote, how does that work? The viewer would have to have a RSS reader in their browser to see your feed as intended? So that's my first round of questions. Are RSS feeds primarily something a site adds as helpful content for viewers, or are they something viewers create themselves for the site for their own convenience?

Hello fellow Zazzle designers, I just had to share a new tool, z-feed, I added to my website a couple of months ago and since then my sales are 4x so far. I struggled to get products on my site for the direct Ambassador link and higher %'s but now with one line of html and my Store Id or a Collection Id, my Zazzle products just show up on my web pages!! Here is an example of www.z-feed.com on my site: https://www.chrisdavenportdok.com/buy I even added a Search bar that will search against my products and display the results! Let me know if you have a similar increase in sales. -Chris

I published a blog post on this yesterday and that includes the link to download my free .zip file. Zazzle Print Safe Color Palettes To summarize the post: I took the "Print-Friendly" color swatches as offered in the new customer interface (184 of them currently) and labeled them all with the corresponding HEX value as assigned by Zazzle. Then I made it into four separate .png files I could upload to Zazzle and put them on a folded 5x7 card (the only product I could think of with four distinct and equally-sized print areas). And then I layered a 3-color svg behind the swatch images to provide three color areas for testing HEX values in. With all three sections of the svg being available at once to change colors on, you don't have to keep switching to Background or other layer/element to try out a HEX value. I published my Print-Friendly color-helper card so I can open it anytime in the Design Tool for my own reference. However, that doesn't do anyone else any good, you all will only be able to access it as the new customer interface. So I packaged the parts into a Zip file you can use to make your own Hidden reference product you can access in the Design Tool. The Zip includes 7 files including my original PSD file with all the un-flattened text labels so you can edit as you wish. Link to download is in the blog post (no time limit on editing blog posts so just better way for me to share a link as I can edit/change it anytime in the future). *In case anyone is wondering, I needed to put the palettes on four different "sides" of something because even on something big like a duvet or shower curtain, you still only have the one small view in the design tool and they needed to be large enough to see without zooming. But you have the parts to make a reference product in whatever way works for you, and also the PSD file for off-line reference.

Some months ago I created my own Discord community for reasons that are now irrelevant. The upshot is that it's now a small but active community of other Zazzle Designers. Since we are creeping up on the time of year when Zazzle traditionally makes these forums Read-Only, I thought this would be a good time to publicly introduce my Discord and invite everyone to join it. Discord never closes, it's 24/7 live chat, so it's a great & fun option for chatting, venting, asking questions ... I myself did not understand what Discord was until not too long ago when I was coaxed in to signing up to join someone's server. Turns out Discord is just what old-schoolers like me used to call "chat rooms". It's just live chat. Discord is just the name of the platform. Then there are communities, akin to the main Z forum, that in Discord lingo are called "servers". Then in those servers (communities) there can be different "channels", which would be like the different forum sections under the main Zazzle community. My server (community) has a number of different channels (forum topics). if you already have a Discord account, all you need to do is click on my invite link to join my community. If you don't yet have a Discord account, clicking the invite link will prompt you to create one. These are the different forums ("channels") on my community ("server"). With a Discord account and clicking my invite link to join my server, you can read and post to any/all of them. If you join and click the thumbtack icon in the top right of screen to view Pinned posts, you'll see more info on what each forum is geared towards. With Discord there is no time limit on being able to edit (or delete) a comment, and you can include images, gifs, and emoticons. I have nothing to gain from this Discord, I am not trying to sell you all anything, it's just a fun way to chat with fellow Designers, and it doesn't even have to be Zazzle related. I just ask that, no politics of course. *Also Note - while there is a Discord app you can install on your phone and/or computer, YOU DO NOT NEED IT. You can join & participate strictly from your browser. Which is how I use it, as just another browser tab. Here's the invite link: https://discord.gg/9hAEEHJR5c There's also a link in my sig if you lose track of this post. π
