Easy to use HTML generator tool for promoting a product

Likely it was unintentional but Zazzle have removed the ability (Aug 2022) to get html when you're on a product page. You can get to it for your own products via the back-end but you can't for other people's products.

So I've created a bookmarklet that replaces the lost functionality, including the ability to first choose your desired view / in-situ.

Actually, I've created two versions, one for people in the Promoter Program for their own products (clean links) and one for general use (giving affiliate links - ie with your referral id and a tracking code included).

Here's the general one in use:

nifty-html-generator1.png

You can see from the screenshot that it's really easy to use.

Get the bookmarklet(s) here: https://niftytoolz.com/zazzle-product-html-generator-bookmarklet and enjoy!

---------------------------------

Note that the HTML generated uses 'responsive' design, so it's equally good for both desktop and mobile devices when you use it on your blog / website.

Can I ask you please how you got the image and the link to show up in your post?

Thank you.

Thank you! The bookmarklet works great with Firefox, but I can't make it work with the Brave browser. The code is there, but it is just not possible to copy it. I tried to pause the Brave Shields, but the code was still just readable.

Would you like to swap links?

Yes, my fault for not checking it worked in other browsers. Check out the new V2 topic I've just started here in the tools forum to see how to get the new bookmarklets that work in Brave, Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers.

Thanks so much for this! One question, after I hit the bookmarklet and get the alert, I am unable to copy the link (Won't even let me highlight the text) Am I doing something wrong?

It's my fault - I didn't check on browsers other than Firefox. As it turns out, Chrome and Chromium-based browsers don't let you copy text from an alert box. I've updated the bookmarklets so they automatically place the generated HTML on your clipboard instead. So now it's even quicker to use!

You'll need to delete the old bookmarlets and get the new ones to replace them. Get them here: https://niftytoolz.com/zazzle-product-html-generator-bookmarklet

I Honestly do not know what we all would do without Mark's tools to fix the Zazzle issues  and make our lives easier to share and sell!

THANK YOU Mark!!!  😻

Thanks for that, Deb - too kind 💐 ☺️

Hey Mark, nice tool. I used it a couple of times yesterday and it worked fine. Today it doesn't seem to be working. I click the link you gave (pph and non-pph one), when I tried pasting it nothing shows. I use Firefox browser.

Zazzle must have made some changes to the product page that prevented the bookmarklets from working. I've now fixed them.

Thanks for letting me know, @FNolan.

You'll need to delete the old bookmarklets and get the updated ones here: https://niftytoolz.com/zazzle-product-html-generator-bookmarklet

I tested them both and they work just fine 😎

That fixed it, thanks for prompt fix 👍

Mark, I am - extremely - ignorant of computer processes.  I saw your instructions, but I don't even know how to access my toolbar in order to drag niftyHTMLgen in it.  How do I access my toolbar?  I'm on Microsoft Edge.

I replied to your char message. I'll repeat it here in case others have the same question:

I don't have Edge (I'm on a Mac) but I found that in Edge it's called a "bookmark bar". To show it if it's not already showing, follow step 2 here:
https://support.start.me/hc/en-us/articles/200964881-Install-and-use-our-bookmarklet
Then drag the link onto it as described here: https://niftytoolz.com/zazzle-product-html-generator-bookmarklet

If you have any more questions, shout 🙂

Mark, Thanks for this link on how to find the bookmark bar. I have a new computer that I couldn't locate the bar. I didn't recognize the appropriate line on the bookmark menu. The visual in the link you gave, allowed me to find it. Yeah!!🎉

Now I can use your wonderful HTML tab!!

The bookmarklet isn't working for me today, whereas it worked previously. I click it and nothing happens. 😞

Look at HightonRidley post by mine. He had to fix it just the other day. Try using his link and re-down loading them.

Did you follow @FNolan 's advice and redownload them, Barbara? Zazzle changed something in the product page hmtl that broke the original ones, hence the need for me to fix them.

Don't forget to delete the originals first 😉

Here's the link again, save you looking for it

Mark, do you ever feel a bit paranoid? LOL

P.S. Works much better now. Thank you!

No, because I know they ARE out to get me, hehe!

After posting a product in the Show Me forum and seeing how it filled the area from edge to edge, I looked through the HTML to see if I could figure out how to reduce the size if I wanted. I got lost after not finding "dim=". How does one resize the image?

Colorwash's Home

When you look at the html, you'll see the image url has 736.webp towards its end. Just change that 736 down to the pixel dimensions you want.

I hope that makes sense 😎

Just tried the bookmarklet again - it works great.

However I prefer a smaller image when I post. I have been adjusting Mark's "736" number (as in previous post) and it worked. Today ... alter the number, hit post/save (whatever the blank button is) and all looks good. Hit the Reply button and the large image returns and gets posted. It seems that the HTML is stripped somehow and I can't see how to adjust it.

Trying it myself to see what you mean, BKMuir:

A motivational quote saying "Everything you want is on the other side of fear". This is a great gift for someone facing a difficult challenge.

Hmmm... It works out ok for me, BKMuir - I changed the 736.webp to 400.webp

I wonder if you changed the max-width:736px; by mistake? That's what gets stripped here (but not on blogs / websites). That would explain your experience.

What do you think?

Mark you were correct, The only 736 was the 736px the webp was 1080 and I changed this to 500 here. So it is the webp that needs to be change. -- Thanks.

Aquarius - Signs of the Zodiac - January 21st to February 19th. 2 water waves glyph symbols (white in blue circle). Text to right gives color and attributes of this sign.

Glad you got it sorted. The 1080 is weird because my code sets it to 736.webp 🤪

Hi, I just tried to use this but I can't put the link in my browser. Any idea why? I am using Safari.

Did you drag the bookmark link to your toolbar, @NHCO ? That's how bookmarklets work.

So to be clear, you don't put the link into your address bar, you don't click the link - you drag it to your toolbar. Once it's on your toolbar, that's when you click it.

I've got a short video showing how to do that somewhere - would you like me to dig it out for you?
