PSA - make sure you fill the background layer with a color else you get funky white lines in the preview.

I had filled the front layer, back layer and the spine

eg - background layer not filled

Indeed, @Sara_H
Great reminder. It is the same for binders.

This is not a complaint or even meant to be negative feedback, but I'm totally confused by the black pages option (as was the customer I was chatting with today.) I'm assuming it's not a mistake, but neither of us could figure out why on earth you'd want a guest book with pages that you can't write on. Are they thinking people are going to use paint pens or something? Just wondering what I'm missing here.

@Cat I've seen the black ones used as a photo memory book - eg - the guests take a instant photo and stick it on the black pages then using a metallic pen write a message.

Unless I've imagined it and that's what I would do 😂

You didn't imagine it. Photo albums with black pages were common in the pre-digital era. I preferred them myself. The photos pop more and gold and silver pens add that extra touch. Makes more than sense on a guestbook, and the pens are usually provided by the hosts.

Hi @Cat , great question! Using a black page can be a unique and visually striking way to capture memories, messages, or signatures from guests, friends or whatever the use case is.

As Sara mentioned, sticking photo's in these is an ideal use case. For writing messages, well wishes etc. metallic, white or pastel gel pens work best with this page color, along with chalk markers or a colored pencil with a good pigment. You could also use things like stickers and other embellishments which will look amazing against the black background. These could be popular for setting up guestbook stations, allowing guests to either draw a doodle, leave messages along with a photo to stick in. I've personally used similar black paged books at a few events and they really come out gorgeous. You could then buy sheet protectors for the pages to display once it's full! 😊

Hope this helps!

Thanks @James that's super helpful info - especially for answering customer questions!

White, silver, or gold gel pens would look fabulous on the black paper. So would POSCA paint pens.

As expected and as evidenced by your video (which is great and incentivizes customers to buy since the product and print are top-notch), the prints are full-bleed and wrapped over the edges to the inside of the book cover. The previews do not show any print or defined background color on the wrapped parts, just plain white, which looks bad and customers who haven't seen the video may think it's not printed. IMO, you should fix the previews (that look nice, otherwise). Awesome product. Cheers!
