And now for something completely different: hot tags are now thumbnails. And I like it. 😍 As of this morning, those blue hot tags have been replaced with more inviting thumbnails that are a photo of whatever product is first in line for that hot tag.
Why do I like it? Because it looks more invitingly clickable. It looks like curated sub-categories. In fact I thought it was until I clicked through a bunch of them and realized they were actually the blue hot tags, which are no longer there. Zazzle must have done some market research and found that sub-category photos get clicked on more than hot tags.

Are you seeing it everywhere? I ask because a quick check showed nothing but the blue (+green) tags for me.

I checked mine earlier today, and am also only seeing the tags.

I am seeing it literally everywhere. Even when I do a search, the search results come up with photo thumbnails instead of hot tags.
If neither of you are seeing it, it must be a beta test. I hope it succeeds. It looks great.

Wish I could see them because I'm left wondering how a photo can represent "cute" or "sophisticated," two tags that are often seen.

The photo in the thumbnail is the first-in-line product that you see when you click on what was formerly a hot tag. It isn't an image chosen by a Zazzle employee. Whether the top product that is tagged as "cute" or "sophisticated" actually is so is subjective. But the photo is chosen by page placement rather than accuracy of representation.

Can you actually see what's in the thumb? Regardless, the blue tags have always been way too generic, forcing me to use the search box.

Yes, it's a photo. It looks just like subcategory photo thumbnails which is what I thought it was at first.

Took me a bit to figure out you are talking about the bar of blue-boxed suggested keywords (that are actually tags designers used) that appears above search results and categories in the marketplace and not the text list of tags at the bottom of a product page.
Signed-in in my usual browser (Firefox) everything is as it always was:
But as a guest using an alternative browser (Opera) I see the thumbs you speak of:
I like that a lot! Except, I do not like that the first white boxes that show how your search was actually interpreted (in this case [tie-dye] + [tissue] + [paper] are no longer there. I depended on that to see how my searches were actually being parsed.

Using Firefox and running a simple search, I end up getting tags only. Signed out, tags only. Using Firefox in private mode, tags only. It must be another of those A/B tests.

Interesting! I had thought the feature to see hot tags was completely removed because I don’t see it. Turns out I can’t be in Chrome or logged in. Safari and not logged in works.
this will help me a lot! So thankful for the forum.
