Is it still realistic to make Zazzle a full-time income ($700–$1000/month) ?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask for some honest opinions from experienced Zazzle sellers. With the recent changes in Zazzle’s policies (Marketing fees, excess fees..) and considering the current global economy, do you think it’s still realistic to make Zazzle a full-time job?

Specifically, I’m wondering whether earning around $700–$1000 per month consistently is achievable today, assuming regular uploads, niche research, and active optimization. I know results vary depending on design quality, niches, and time invested, but I’d really appreciate hearing real experiences, especially from those who’ve been selling for a while or who’ve seen how the newer policies affect earnings.

Any insights, tips, or reality checks would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!

Hi, Majed!

Yes, it's absolutely possible. I started in late 2022 just hoping to make $50 a month to help cover groceries and make some 'passive income'. At that time, and to my surprise, I was able to bring in income that really blessed me and my family. With the changes, there is certainly a dramatic decrease in earnings, but regardless of that fact I am gratefully making within or above the range you've mentioned on a monthly basis.

Due to competing priorities, I can't work on my store every day or even every week or month, but when I started I did exert a lot of energy into building up my store. I don't use social media to promote, with the exception of periodically pinning my products to random boards I created — I have no real recipe for success. I also don't have my own website.

My recommendation would be to research trends, even if it's just casually. Pinterest could be everyones best friend here, it reveals a lot about themes that are popular or gaining traction. You really don't need a specific niche.

I'm really not interested in gatekeeping anything. We're all just trying to be successful and express our creativity in one way or another. If you're here to make some cash, focus on what's trending, try to avoid creating products with obviously AI-generated content, adopt the use of mockups wherever possible, and be intentional with your product descriptions and tags. Create with intention.

And if it's worth anything, I would still very much recommend creative individuals open up shops here. Sometimes, people are looking to make $50/mo, and others $700-$1,000 (and beyond). It is all very possible.

If you are very good at marketing your products you may do very well.
Just creating designs for an income: you have to find a very profitable and unique niche.
My five cents.

I would doubt it. Personally my earnings have dropped dramatically since Zazzle changed the system to minimise payouts. Subsequently I don't put much time into the  platform any more. I earn much more on Etsy by partnering with various companies who fulfil the orders, using my designs on mugs, coasters etc.

Yes, it's absolutely possible. And, more.

I think with the changes recently it is almost impossible now. I am sure there are a couple still acing it, but even they must be feeling the changes to our royalty amounts, sadly.

I'm curious if you're talking from your personal experience or generally? Because it's surprising coming from a gold member with an established store.

For me, the honest answer is that it really depends on how people define “realistic.” I average around $300 a month these days, and that’s after dealing with all the newer fees. My store used to earn more but now brings in noticeably less, simply because the fee structure keeps shifting.  So is $700–$1000 a month still possible? Yes, but it’s not the “upload consistently and you’ll get there” era anymore. The sellers hitting those numbers usually have: .  long‑established store. Strong niches with repeat buyers. Their own traffic sources outside Zazzle. For newer sellers or anyone rebuilding, the climb is steeper than it used to be. Not impossible  just more strategic and more dependent on bringing in your own traffic instead of relying on Zazzle alone.  In my opinion those income levels are still achievable, but they’re no longer automatic. They come from treating Zazzle like a real business and adjusting as the platform evolves.

I would say "Yes". You will need to be methodical and treat it like a business not a part time hobby.

I know there are some still making a decent amount, but I no longer recommend opening stores on Zazzle. I know many that have left because they were no longer making enough. I don't plan to close my stores, but I'm not sure what my future is here. Sales have been dropping for the past few years, but the Ambassador Program is next level.

I have managed to make about the same total income as last year. But that was with greater effort on my part (creating more products, more focused research on what designs and products are profitable, and increased marketing on social media) plus heavy support from family and friends.

I earn no where near $700 - $1,000 a month despite 4 years of working on my shop 4-6 hours a day/5 days a week.

I attribute some of my struggle with avoiding the wedding niche - which most heavy hitters focus on. Weddings and marriage are not something I’m into, so I don’t want to sell products and designs that would seem insincere on my part (even if customers wouldn’t know that).

I imagine sellers who have reached silver and gold level may be able to make that much money. I also think silver and gold level members are most qualified to answer that question.  Everyone else can just guess.

Great thought. Maybe folks could chime in with both their personal experience and Zazzle seller level. That way, the poster can see the full picture at various stages.

I am a Bronze seller.

Thanks for you wonderful reply! I hope it encourages others as much as it encouraged me. Your way of working is very similar to mine so I think I will be doing what I'm doing til I reach my desired threshold and beyond!
