Hello-
I received a message from a shopper asking if Zazzle will ever create an "electrical outlet" that can feature designs - specifically, an outlet that you can plug a curling iron into. I've never heard of that even being considered - has anyone else?

Maybe she means an outlet cover? Zazzle has switch covers, and if you have the correct style of outlet you might be able to use this one as an outlet cover: https://www.zazzle.com/pd/spp/pt-aif_lightswitchcover?style=modern_single

Hi Cat-
I thought that too about the switch covers, but she said she was thinking about the plates that go over the plugs where you plug in your curling iron!

Maybe she means an outlet cover that can accommodate a GFI (ground fault interrupter) as those are often necessary for code compliance in bathrooms? There is a size (single rockers) that I believe would work for those in the switch plate offerings - for US outlets at least. Other countries may need different configurations. I don’t see standard outlet cutouts though- just switches.

That is an interesting idea. I'll see if that would work in her opinion. 🙂

This style of outlet, I think is compatible with the single rocker plate. https://www.amazon.com/Resistant-Receptacle-Indicator-Wallplate-MICMI/dp/B07MCSXV5M/ref=asc_df_B07MC...

Can't think that anyone would customize something that specific. Typically a one-size-fits-all product that nearly everyone uses is the best kind of product for one-off printing. However, a sticker could be designed to fit that kind of outlet, if you know what the dimensions are; could be a custom job earning you a few extra bucks on the side. The sticker would have to be cut with scissors by the customer, obviously.

I’m wondering if placing a sticker on an electrical outlet is a safety hazard….

Maybe by plate she meant a switch cover. Did you or her show a picture of one so that there is no misunderstanding?

Not until now did I realize that that Zazzle sells switch covers but not socket covers. The only reason I can think of is that, other than in a kitchen or bathroom, sockets are usually placed down near the floor, which is an odd place to have something decorative.
I ran a search and found all kinds of diy methods for decorating switch and socket covers, the major one being painting them, be it painting designs or spray painting. People even use contact paper and wall paper, both of which would require a bit of skill with a craft knife.
