Update: I found a workwaround through displaying the contextual menu, and clicking on the delete choice, but it’s really not easier, and probably more difficult to find for your customers…
I often ask myself if you have ergonomic or UX specialists, because hiding a much used feature in a context menu and obliging people to make two clicks for a usual action is not very good in this domain generally… Maybe you could answer on this point too ?
Hello Zazzle Teams !
How are we supposed to work ? And how are you customers supposed to customize their products ?
I am on iPad, and since this morning it’s not possible to delete a design added in the editor anymore !!!
Tell me what could I do in the screenshot below without a keyboard and without a trash bin icon anymore and no new button anywhere ????

Thanks. With all that’s going on I can’t believe they’ve implemented an update to the editor and not told us!

I have to say that when I saw this , this morning, I was on the verge of giving up on everything. Really frustrated I feel fed up. It seems that they always make the designers pay more, but on the other hand, everything is less and less professionally managed ! They destroy their tools each day a little more and it’s a shame !

@Fantabuloustef Sorry to bother but I am also on iPad too and can not work out the way you suggest to delete. I’ve tried layers and can’t find anything there. I’m not sure what you mean by the contextual menu. I use an Apple Pencil and not a keyboard although I do have one. Thanks for your help in advance. Sue

Select the object you want to delete and hold your finger or stylus tip pressed on it a few seconds, then this menu appears , and there’s a delete option inside:

Superb! Thanks for explaining so clearly. Yes, why would they do that! It’s definitely a backwards step in attempting to improve the editor. A simple survey of existing designers would have made that clear!
I’ve not posted anything this week as the duplicates etc was unnerving and I am not absolutely sure that the originals will stay when the duplicates go, if they ever do! A lot of work to redo so instead creating stuff but not uploading it for now. I dislike working like this!
Thanks again Sue (in the UK)

Yes, I understand. The first time I had this duplicate problem, I thought I had created a second version of my product by myself and then deleted it. It deleted the original too, without any backup, so I lost all my work and was really unhappy because I had spent time on it…

I too do nearly all Zazzle via iPad.
Just to play devil's advocate here, I think I might be okay with the removal of the trash can icon which used to be on the image. I have many times ended up deleting an image when I meant to enlarge it because I would hit that little tiny trash can icon with the tip of my Apple pencil when I did not mean to. I can still use the delete button on my keyboard and that works great. (But not everyone has the keyboard attachment for iPad). This is easier for me than trying to make that contextual menu pop up.

It’s the proof we don’t all work the same way. I never hit the trash icon with my Apple pen 🙂
But, I was not specially attached to this button, just needed something easy. The problem could have been solved by just adding a button on the top bar or side panel, so that everyone would have had an easy intuitive access and visible at first sight without searching. ( keyboard or not ) I don’t know if some customers use the Zazzle editor on their phone, but if it’s the case, they should have a big problem too.
This is also the problem of shaking and challenging brutally our automatisms without giving us at least a little explanation saying how to do now. Would have been very appreciated from Zazzle!
PS: I just had a look to how similar tools I use handle this problem on iPad. A solution I like is when you select an object, a little contextual bar directly appear under it with a few icons for the most important actions like copy paste, delete… It disappears if you move the object and comes back when you drop it !

Interesting. I have never accidentally deleted either @Windy but I can equally see that this could be an issue. My hands aren’t good hence I rarely use the iPad keyboard and I never knew about the conceptual menu being there until @Fantabuloustef showed me and notice I can copy and paste here! Yayy!
Please could either of you let me know whether you can multi select layers as in grouping or for masking? I’ve tried but have been unsuccessful and gave to power up the desk top if I want to do this!
Thanks for you time Sue

You can not multi select layer in the Layers left panel, but you can select several objects from the creation zone: Just do as if you wanted to draw a very big rectangle ( click, hold the finger or pen while moving it to the opposite corner of your virtual rectangle ) around the objects you want to select, and you have a multi selection, as if you did it on the left panel.
Then you can group and mask as you want.
Sometimes it can be a little bit difficult, because nothing else must be placed in the selection rectangle than the objects you want to group or mask. In such a case, I move my selection on the left or bottom areas, group or mask here, and put it back at its original place.

In fact, you don’t even need to draw this rectangle all around the shapes it can be smaller, and as soon as it enters in an existing object area, it adds it to the multi selection you are building.

Thanks so much for taking the time to explain the process. I would never have found this out on my own.

To answer your question about whether you can select multiple layers while using iPad.
I highlight one layer. Then press control and click on each layer which I want to add to the group.

Yes, I thought Sue was seeking for a solution without iPad keyboard, but maybe it was with it 🙂

Yes, correct. I rarely use a keyboard. My hands are quite deformed with autoimmune arthritis and so the pen is my go to these days. I do have a keyboard but rarely use it.

I agree that the removal of the trashcan is an upgrade because I've often accidentally deleted an element when I was trying to move or resize it. But I work on a PC with a keyboard so deleting is not an issue for me.
