That not everybody uses Instagram, Facebook or Tik tok? So that makes your contest a just a bit exclusive of people who use other social media platforms instead.
Just thought you should know... I was expecting Twitter or Pinterest to be included since they are also places you can use hashtags.

I'm totally confused by this whole contest. To me it seems that it's limited to people who are designing stuff for themselves rather than for sale. Of course, I don't do Instagram or TikTok so maybe I'm missing something.

@Cat I am thinking it is a marketing gimmick to draw attention to their new social media home page. I won't say more since I am not too keen on the whole idea...

The fine print says $1,000 awarded every weekday from the 10th to the 10th. That's $21,000 dollars, more than I think most companies would be willing to spend on a gimmick? To me, this suggest two things. 1) That the Zazzle Explore Feed is here to stay but they need to generate a lot of quality content for it hence approval for the contest expense because for every one winner there'll surely be dozens if not hundreds of other posts that didn't win the money but still can be used to populate the new Feed. . And 2) Despite all the fears expressed in numerous threads re Z price increases and going public with their stock, I don't think Z is hurting for dollars / in danger of going under; if a company was in dire financial straits, I doubt they'd greenlight such an odd expense?
That said, I really, really dislike this social media Feed, for most of the reasons already expressed by others in the feedback thread and then some, but since I think it's probably here to stay, the most I can hope for is that it will be a link from the home page and not stay as the main home/landing page itself. Ugh.
But for the contest itself, I do have a question. The details state:
7. Winners are solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes and other fees associated with prize receipt and use, as well as any costs or expenses associated with currency conversion. Winners will be required to provide applicable tax information to Zazzle prior to payment. No substitution (including for cash where applicable), assignment or transfer of prizes is permitted, except by Zazzle Inc. who reserves the right to substitute a prize with another prize of greater or equal value if the prize cannot be awarded as stated. Zazzle Inc. will withhold and/or report taxes as required by applicable law.
I was assuming the prize is paid out in real money, but that red part makes me wonder if it will instead be a credit to your Z account balance, or awarded in the form of a promo code you can apply to orders until the $1k is used up. I was lucky enough to win $50 a long while back for commenting on Zazzle Ideas posts, and that was awarded as a $50 promo code. I'm assuming (again) that since the contest seems to be open to everyone, both designers and the general public/customers, that it'll be an actual payout and not just a Z credit, but clearification would be good here.
** For anyone wondering what we're talking about, it's this:

That's a solid assessment. It will generate content for sure but with a high enough price tag that it wouldn't even be considered if Zazzle was in financial trouble. I too hope that it is a toggle option rather than the default landing page.

it's apparently still an A/B test that not everyone can experience. It makes the main zazzle.com landing page look like an Instagram feed. 😞 I've been graced with it. I give it a solid thumbs-down.
It's being inconsistently referred to as Inspiration Gallery, Zazzle Explore, Home Feed ...

This sort of thing might attract some of the Millennials and a great proportion of Gen X, thus born from 1981 onward. Though Baby Boomers (1946 through 1964) are often tech savvy, their focus tends to be elsewhere, and they're likely to be only passingly interested in social media, but with a nod to Facebook for communicating with good friends and family.
There can be huge differences between generations, and this may be what we're seeing here, particularly since (I suspect) many of the designers are Boomers and older Millennials who might play with social media, but that's about it. It's a mindset caused by what was or wasn't experienced in youthful years. Being a year older than even the Boomers, I look at social media stuff to be tested and then ignored. My son, born at the end of Gen X, ignores all but his private group on Facebook.
The problem here on Zazzle is generational, and though there might be arguments about it, it can't be changed. We designers should probably do what suits each of us best. If we were suddenly forced to take part in Instagram, I'd quit in a heartbeat, but we're not forced.

Generational, that makes sense. I do not get the appeal of the Inspiration gallery but take it on faith that much younger people do. This new feed is unlikely to inspire any middle aged shoppers but then that's not the demographic it's aimed at. If it gets young people shopping at Zazzle then yay.
I'm not going to participate in this contest since nearly everything I've bought here is gifts for relatives (which they love) so not available for me to photograph.
Theoretically I could make a process video (one of their suggestions) but I think a video of me building paths in Adobe Illustrator would be brutally dull for anyone but other designers. Also I've never made a process video before so it would be clunky and ill-made. I suspect their target customer demographic wants to see process videos that are artistic rather than technical i.e. actual paint on canvas. Ah well. Thousands of dollars for other people then. But if all the new Inspirational Feed content brings in customers then yay. Maybe they'll shop around and buy some of my vector designs. But I doubt they want to see a boring process video on how it's made.

@KeegansCreation I'm a YouTube addict of how-to's and art-and-craft videos. Some are deadly dull, while others speed up the video or show things in parts, skipping to the results. It looks like too much work, so like you, I wouldn't bother trying either. 😳

@ColsCreations As usual Z legalese is hard to interpret. The fine print really should be more clear and if the prizes are awarded as promo codes that reinforces my first impression of a sales gimmick. 21K is probably a drop in the bucket compared to thier advertsing budget.
