This is a longshot, but I figured I'd ask. Often when I have a product that contains a customer editable QR Code, I also place a text field with the same URL info because not everyone knows how to use a QR code. I'm thinking about wedding RSVPs etc. The problem is that I've had several instances where the customer didn't understand that they needed to enter the URL in both the text field and the QR Code box - they assumed that entering it in the text field was sufficient to make the QR Code work. I try to be as clear as I can in the field labels but as we all know, people don't read instructions. I think they see the URL displayed as text and just assume that the QR Code got the info from there.

It would be super helpful if there was some way to make both things have the same data in the same way that you can have text duplicated in different fields by giving them the same URL Parameter Name. Like maybe a text field with the same URL Parameter Name as the QR Code? Or maybe there could be an option to display the QR code as text as well as the code? It would have to be something where you could adjust the style of the text to match the design.

I'm kinda doubting that this would be doable, but if there was some way to make it work it go a long way toward easing confusion and probably result in fewer returns and unhappy customers.

I would prefer a check box to force customization of the QR code, like it is on images were you can not add the product to cart without customization if the box "Force customers to replace with their own content" is checked

@Ilovesummer That's a great idea! I didn't think of that, but that might work even better!

I don't see why they couldn't implement both. Force Replace for the URL attached to the actual QR image, and also a special text template field the Designer can choose to use, that will display the URL as entered for the QR image.

One more thought on this topic. Maybe there could be a link to test the QR code? Like in the "personalize this design" section?

@Cat  😄

I think it would be good to have the option to force customization on ordinary text too. It would be great to have for example on the inside of folded cards where a template text may be overlooked

@Ilovesummer That's a thought. They do have a warning that pops up if someone didn't customize text that was a template... but it tends to confuse people as the message is vague. It asks them to review the text, but it doesn't explain that they didn't customize it:

I've had customers who thought it meant that the text was going to print in red!

But interestingly, this message didn't notify me that I didn't change the QR code! Hmmm....
