Please consider coding the design interface and tools area to allow for customizing a design for an individual size variation. Other white label and retail POD sites have this feature.
An example would be, for the window curtains, the smallest size and the longest size, we need to make the design fit both sizes, when we should be able to customize the placement for each size in the designer workspace.

Assuming I understand your question, when you post the item for sale, in the product merchandising section you can choose to restrict it to this size only. On an existing design you can use "edit details" to do this retroactively:

That approach allows you to create separate designs for the different sizes.

The other approach is to use a repeating pattern and tile it - though that only works for certain types of designs.

No, that is not good enough. It needs to be done in the design area. I can't restrict just one variation, I can only restrict to 1 size, so technically I'd need to publish all 4 separately because the design suits 3 easily but not the 4th size.

We need the ability to Customize for each size variation so that it can be published as 1 listing with 4 proper variations.

I agree it would be helpful if we could have a check box sort of thing where we could choose exactly which options are available for any given product. Given the variety of options on different products, I imagine that this might be a fairly complex programming job, so I'm not holding my breath. My solution is to just create different products for each size - it's not ideal, but at the moment I think it's the best we can do.

Yes, I will do 1 size option and several listings, I hope it is not considered duplicate content.

Just be sure that you give them all unique titles, tags, and descriptions. I also find it helpful to make a tiny tweak to the design for different sizes even if it's not meaningful to how it looks - it just keeps the system from seeing it as a dupe.

True! Good advice for sure!

We need the ability to Customize for each size variation so that it can be published as 1 listing with 4 proper variations.

That would be absolutely amazing, so very much more helpful to customers as well as designers than the current convoluted system of this size only, this shape only, only this size and this shape, .....

If there are X many different sizes/shapes available, the customer should be able to select any of them with whatever Zazzle & the designer needs to do to make that work remaining behind the scenes. Also, when we have to publish multiple listings just to cover all the size/shape variations of one product, that effects our #of products to #of sales ratio and clutters up our stores, category & collection pages when people go to them directly as well as results in the MP. It would be great if they counted as only one product and showed in the MP like colorways do - grouped together under one listing to reduce repetitive clutter.

What about using the same title and putting the size after the title? Like “Pink Floral Doormat 18x12?” Good idea or bad idea?

@Jadendreamer13 Good question! All I know is that the algorithm frowns on duplicate titles, tags, and descriptions. How different they need to be is an open question!

If we do end up with the old solution @Cat suggested by making individual products for each size... Can I add that we also need to carry over the (don't delete / make invisible) size variations that didn't sell. I used to sell messenger bags with the design modified for each size, because just simply choosing different sizes made a mess of the design. But one sold and the others became invisible over time. It doesn't hurt to see that these are colour variations or different sizes of the same design. Also sometimes they are part of a set.
