How to create a nice mockup for the invitation cards

Hi, y'all!

I've just posted a short video on YouTube showing how I created one of the mockups for a card.

I'm not a native English speaker, so I had a hard time trying to explain it all in English, but hopefully you'll get it.

I intend to create more tutorial videos like this in the future and show and explain more complicated mockups. This one was actually very simple, so that's why I'm sharing it with you guys. I use Krita, I know most people use Photoshop, but,  hopefully, every step will be very similar to follow on Photoshop or another similar software.

So here it is: https://youtu.be/w7uAMhcIQpY

Please let me know if you find it helpful and if there's anything I could clarify.

Nice tutorial! The trick about using multiply to add shadows over the card was especially helpful!

I just have a quick question, I've shied away from using those sorts of pre-made mockups because I thought it wasn't allowed to use a different sort of envelope than the one that comes with it. Anybody know for sure?

Wow, I didn't think about it! I thought it was allowed, but in case it's not, I believe it must not be difficult to change the envelope color, maybe creating a layer above with blending mode = color and softly adding white to it. I will try it here!

I don't know for sure, so don't go changing things on my account. I read something somewhere (can't remember where) that when we are using mockups we need to be careful to be sure that the product actually matches the one being sold. I think they were mostly referring to mugs, t-shirts, tote bags etc. where people were using mockups that showed a different type of product from the one actually being sold.

But I sort of extrapolated that to the envelopes - which may not be an accurate interpretation. I mean, technically the mockup is just advertising the card, not the envelope - and sometimes people do buy them without envelopes and then they use their own envelopes, which could be any color or style...

I think I may just be paranoid about this sort of thing, but I'd love to hear how other folks out there have interpreted this guideline! 🙄

@Cat  I asked Z team in this thread about the color envelopes but have got no response.... yet. (https://community.zazzle.com/t5/ask-a-question/can-we-use-greeting-card-mockup-templates-that-have-n...)

When customers place orders after seeing a cover photo featuring a Valentine's card with a red envelope or a St Patrick's card with a green envelope, we all know what color of the envelope they will get when they receive the orders.  So this is how I look at it: even though it "seems" OK now with color envelopes used in the cover photos, all it takes is a few not so happy customers making a big fuss about this, things could change overnight.  That means I would have to delete and redo those covers all over again.  I'm sure there are designers who don't mind doing that, but personally, I'd rather not deal with that, so, like you, I've also shied away from using color envelopes in the covers, but that's just me....
