How to tile wrapping paper rolls seamlessly

This is specifically for the rolls of paper and not the sheets AND when set to horizontal and not tile.

I've been on Zazzle a while now, but I am just now getting into events and paper goods including wrapping paper.  I have seamless tiles of assorted sizes that appeared to be tiled properly until I checked the mockup further down the row, and realized every single roll that I have made this season had a flaw down the middle.

After putting my head together with my sister, we realized that in order for it to tile perfectly you need to have your tile width (the height doesn't matter) set to a number that divides evenly into 36.  You also need to check the tile box to "none" after every tile size change and re enter the proper number because it won't scale properly between the changes for whatever reason.

I hope this helps those of you who, like me, had no idea that there was a specific way you needed to tile.  I can't find a help file or anything on it.  I spent half of my morning fretting and checking my pattern tiles and now I am off to fix all but one roll where I accidentally did it right! 🤣

That's spot-on advice for when using the tiling tool. If you don't set it back to none each time you try something different, it creates gapping. It's hard wrapping your mind around the fact that the canvas you're des!gning on in Horizontal Placement is actually 36" wide, I have a couple rolls that look pretty bad because I didn't grasp that at first but they've sold so I haven't deleted them either.

Well, dang, Col @ColsCreations . I actually did search for help on the forum, but I have the hardest time finding anything when I search.  I couldn't even find the fairly recent thread where someone was asking so I could just comment there instead of making a new one.  All your extra info is great with how it lands on the mockups.  I could never go into as much detail as you!

How to work with the wrapping paper rolls seems to be a fairly common question, it deserves it's own Tips thread so I'm glad you posted this. Should make it easy for people to find, and add their own tips to, too. 👍

It's posts like this that make me wish we had a stickied section. This post and Col's linked Wrapping Paper Roll Guide are timeless.

Things that should be stickied:

  1. design guides for products that have subtleties that take a lot of trial and error to figure out on your own
  2. list of reasons why the Sell button isn't showing
  3. text or images that are commonly assumed to be in the public domain but are not

That is a fabulous idea.

Hey, maybe i am just blind, but i can't figure out how to set a specific width to grouped items.. if i want to tile several items together, i have to group them before tiling them. But i haven't found a way yet to get that tiled pattern seamlessly. Is there a was to set a specific width to grouped items before tiling them?
