People often post here about the Sell It Button not working, grayed out, or not available. Reasons why may include the following:
One. Creator started to edit a product designed by another creator. If you want to sell the product, you need to start with a blank product. Here is one place where you can get to all the blank products. https://www.zazzle.com/custom/gifts
Two. Creator started to edit a blank product, however, added an ICON or a designer BACKGROUND to the product. All the ICONS seen on the left panel of the design tool are available ONLY for customization and purchase by the shopper. If you apply a Zazzle supplied ICON such as an occupation, and ornament or a cat, you will see a grayed out sell it button and will not be able to sell this product. The only shapes you can use on a product you will post for sale, are the circle, square, triangle and line, or any shape you upload yourself. As for backgrounds, the plain colors are saleable. But if you choose a background from "Most Popular Backgrounds" , you can add the item to your cart, but you will not ever see the sell button. You are welcome to make your own background and upload that to your images. If you do that you will be able to sell the product.
THREE. Greeting cards will not show a SELL IT button if you have chosen NONE as the envelope type.

Do sticky threads exist in this forum? Can this be stickied? This is something every new designer should be told but it is not found in the Help sections that new designers depend on for info on how to post products.

I started with a blank design and added no icons or backgrounds. As the item is a postcard, it should not need an envelope, but whether I choose one or NONE, I still get no Sell It button.
Any suggestions?

OK, I went to the link offered above for custom gifts and tried it from there. This time it worked, even without choosing an envelope option.. What I don't understand is that the first time, I tried it from a link that was in the section labeled "Create your own card," the same section from which I successfully made and posted a folded greeting card.
I haven't been very active on Zazzle in the last few years...too busy with family emergencies. But it seems that every time I come back, they've changed something or other and half the time it is not more user friendly.

@WindyThank you for this! I was teaching a friend some things about designing and selling through Zazzle and she got excited about the icon option. I didn't recall that having been an option for brand new designs, and I'll now have a link to send her for more clarity. Much appreciated.

@Melodywatson I am so glad this helped! I wrote it because this question comes up in the forums over and over again. It's super frustrating when you run into this problem and don't know why.

A fourth reason I've found for the Sell It button not appearing--even if envelopes and envelope size have been selected--is if the "Remove Independent Creator Credit" box is checkmarked in the Attribution section.
After the design has been published, then the Remove Independent Creator Credit tick box can be checkmarked and saved in the backend.

I've created my own background image for selling, yet the "Sell It" button never appears. Any tips? Does there need to be an image accompanying the background for the button to appear?

If I am not mistaken, not all designers have been approved to sell backgrounds. I would not be able to sell a background because of this. Maybe this is your issue as well?

I'm pretty sure that all my products were done on a blank thing, and the designs are all my own, but I am still not offered a "sell it" button. I may just have to face the fact that I will never be able to sell my products on Zazzle. For some strange reason, I can't access the "sell it" button. I am only offered an "edit design" button and an "add to cart" button.

Same. I've been plugging away for over two weeks. I've tried every trick mentioned, and no sell button emerges.
This platform seems to be more customer sales/advertisement driven. It is not real easy to figure out from a designer POV.
Some of my designs only look good with a background. Which I have supplied. But yet, not all designers are approved to sell backgrounds. I guess even blank ones.
I must admit this is very frustrating. This was the better of my other options, but I don't know if I will ever get my store up and running.

Hi @RascalSplat345,
I'm very sorry to hear that you don't the option to publish your design. If you would like to provide a link to the design in question I would be happy to take a look for you to see if we can resolve the issue and get you up and running.

Hi @Pádraig, I’m not @RascalSplat345 but have the similar problem, after I’ve finished the design, can’t find that “sell it” button anywhere no matter how hard I’ve tried. I’m using mobile device to do my design. Here is the link if you want to take a look:

Hi @Night_Light,
It isn't possible to publish from a mobile device. Can you try this on a desktop? It should work for you then.

None of these apply to me. I am using a blank template and putting my image on it but there is no sell it option. Do you know why. I am using it from Chrome in my phone. Thanks.

Hi everyone! Was having the same issue and what worked for me was I went to my store and created a "Collection." Within that framework there was a button to create a new product. For some reason, when I clicked it and started through the process again the "Sell It" button appeared!
Don't know why, but hope this helps someone!

I have the same issue when trying to post via my phone... I end up having to keep the design under the "Saved Designs" and come back to it later on the desktop computer to actually get the "Sell It" button to appear. Not ideal but it works!

If I create a design and save it then go back to it and try to publish the design there's no way to "sell it" - just edit. This is clearly a bug or design flaw - once the design is saved I can't do anything with it but order one for myself. I've figured out the Collections trick, but there's no logic to the issue - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't - super frustrating.
