Targeting Kids AND Teens

Greetings and thanks again for previous help provided here in the Community.

My target markets are boys 8-18 years of age and girls 8-18 years of age.

When I set merchandising to men or women, some of the younger models are young enough -- they appear plausibly to be 18 or younger -- but no youngsters show up.

On the other end of the age spectrum, when I select kids, few if any models who could plausibly be 16-18 appear.

And of course that makes sense when I make those selections.

But I wonder if there is a smart or clever or Zazzle-intended way to:

  • have 8-ish models and 18-ish models show up together in thumbnails for a product
  • have both kid sizes and adult sizes show up together for that product?

I think the answer is probably "no" for a Zazzle-intended way, so I am left to hope:

  • is there a smart or clever way I can target my market with a single product?

Many thanks for any thoughts.

Cheers,

Jack

Great point, Jack @JKBAG . I think there is room for improvement in the kids section.
I don't see that many products on Zazzle that would actually make a nice gift for children, and the ones that are, would benefit from falling into search categories by age.

For instance, if I go to the gifts for kids section, there are a lot of baby clothes. Thus not at all catering to the age group you are targeting.
Also items like a mug. Is nice, but is that really appealing to children as a birthday gift?
And we have newly added backpacks, that might actually be a nice gift, but they don't show up in the gifts for kids section.
Skateboards? Are they not selling?
Gift items that keep kids entertained, give them something to do.
Your teen group might be a challenge to find something, unless you specifically market t-shirts and such?

Thanks for the help, Anne.

My problem mainly shows up in apparel. To make sure the right sizes show up with the right products, I'm thinking I might have to have four categories to bridge the child/teen and boy/girl differences, something like:

  • Boy child apparel
  • Boy teen apparel
  • Girl child apparel
  • Girl teen apparel

Thanks for helping me noodle through what to do.

@JKBAG upload your own promos with the age ranges you want to target perhaps?

Thanks for that idea, Sara. It reminds me I at least need to check out freemockups.

Much appreciated!

@JKBAG you could also try your hand at creating AI kid mockups with the age range that you specifically need (not tried it with apparel) worth a pop?

Thanks. How would I put my 8-18-year-old mockup models in accurate images of the Zazzle products? I haven’t tried but I can imagine how it could work... Is this somehow achievable on the mockup platforms?

I feel like bringing this up in "suggestions and ideas" would be great. I have this problem as well, and I am SURE we are not alone! Tween and Teen models are MIA.

Thanks, Amanda.

A quick search for Suggestions and Ideas didn't turn up anything. Can you point me to the best place to register the suggestion? And will you / did you chime in as well?

All best,

Jack

There are clothing and model mock-up you can consider in places like Envato Elements (paid, of couse). Check on their use rights as well.

Thanks. I'll take a look.
