I'm seeing some pretty amazing designer uploaded mockups in the Z marketplace.
See these in situ images as examples:
Love 4 photo simple modern personalised gift wine label | Zazzle.com
Love 4 photo simple modern personalised gift faux canvas print | Zazzle.com
1. Is this feature open to all designers or is a prequalification process required?
2. How do I go about uploading a mockup to a Zazzle product?
3. What formats are accepted for mockups (other than PSD)?
4. What's a good (and preferably, free) mockup generator?
Thank you!

This feature was in BETA Test only for selected Designers. The BETA test is now over and currently, no new mockups can be added by Designers.

Any idea if Z will be allowing it again? Or if they will start providing additional mock ups?

I'd like to know too! And can it be done for all products in someone's store?

I know the beta test is over but last week I was searching under "newest" to see where my latest designs fell & I noticed a couple of new designer uploaded insitus from a particular well known creator. So I don't know if certain people are able to upload their designs again, but this time a smaller chosen group? 😞

I was offered the UPLOAD COVER feature yesterday after complaining about having to compete with the click per view ads at the bottom of the page. Personally, it does not compensate for the competition we are pitted against. I have made mock-ups for Etsy and they are VERY time consuming. The Zazzle BETA feature requires creation of a separate square with new dimensions on which to place your mock-up. It may be a snap for paper designers, but for Home Decor it adds at least an 2 hours creation time per product. You have to also buy the mock-ups. The "FREE" mockups are not very nice. I have never seen a SQUARE mock-up. They are usually made to fit Pinterest pages which are rectangular. The great mock-ups on Creative Market for sale require the latest version of Photoshop. To be effective, you may have to try a design with several mock-ups if it uses furniture or an interior. Once you have your mock-up you want to use, free or purchased, you then have to make another copy of your design image which is specified by the mock-up. You cannot use repeating patterns unless you put them on a separate canvas. Elsewise, a good print size for a pillow product you are selling is not the same size your mock- up requires. Once you have re-sized or made another image and applied it to the mockup, you have to then make your mockup look right on the square canvas required by the UPLOAD COVER feature. I have 4,000 designs generally published, always updating and removing old designs. I do not see that spending intensive time on each product for UPLOAD COVER is worth the time in which you could be publishing 12 more throw pillows. Further, overuse of the program will make the search engine look like a dime store before long- there will be no uniformity or control over what mock-ups will appear and how they will look all together with the ideas of many creators. Zazzle should proceed with adding its own mockups which show as we make products. I am not going to use the UPLOAD COVER feature. For Home Decor. It takes away needed time to design and promote- Pinterest and a personal website are best, but that takes time as well. How much work can a person do for a few cents at the end of the day?

Wow @gardenstyle 😀
Thank you for the most helpful information.
I wasn't aware of some of the drawbacks to "custom image upload thumbnails"
I don't know what the BEST solution is, but just wanted a chance to try it out
I don't have a lot of home decor, and have just started the last few days finding "as you stated free mock ups", and you are very correct that MOST are RECTANGULAR
which does create a lot of extra work, but I did find that SOME went fairly easily in circular signs, stickers, office supplies, ect. and really enjoyed the process of creating excellent visual product images for my COLLECTION COVERS.
How would i go about contacting Zazzle about "product thumbnail images"?
Thank you again!

Hello @Marcia 😀
Greetings!
What seems FAIR to both Zazzle & to the Designers may be a bit more complex in terms of choosing a "selective" group. In terms of EVERY designer I'm sure , we would LOVE the chance to upload some GREAT PRODUCT THUMBNAILS. to be aesthetically & visually pleasing to the consumer, i.e., more sales, for US and ZAZZLE.😀 It's been proven OVER and OVER, product presentation is over 80% of the sale PERIOD. Zazzle does a moderate to great job creating mock ups for our products, BUT there could be GREAT improvements, changes & updates in order to enhance, entice, and to excite the viewer to purchase.
I think we ALL deserve that chance!
So HAPPY you got the CHANCE to try out the testing!
Hope to soom!

I will not use any feature that is not available to everyone. I have been here since 2016 and will continue to go it the hard way. Dividing the community is bad for morale and artistically oppressive. We are a whole marketplace. What is available to one, should be available to all. The only fair solution is for Zazzle to buy the missing needed product mockups and provide them so EVERBODY can feature their work with equal opportunity.

Why is this feature only for a SELECTED FEW?
Don't we ALL Deserve the chance to promote our products via product imagery?
More sales, more views, more clicks?
Zazzle please!

I replied above. I won't use anything not available to everyone. Zazzle should finish what they started and provide a nice mockup for all products which everyone can use.

So? How does that help anyone compete against a display of superior mock-ups in major department store advertising being displayed on their pages?

Thank you, everyone, for your feedback and thoughts on Cover Photo.
As most of you know, when we release or are in the development stages of new features, we want to make sure it works for all involved. We do this by running features either in an A/B test to customers or similar, partial and sometimes temporary roll-outs to users, sometimes including Creators. This allows us to monitor the feature and how our audience and our community interact with it. When releasing a new feature, we want to be sure it's impacting the site positively. No one is being forced to participate, and we are not consciously excluding anyone. This is still very much in its early stages, and pending our future results, we hope to be able to adjust it more to our Community's needs and share it with you all. Giving you one more tool to hopefully make your Zazzle experience a unique and fruitful one.
Thank you, and Happy Monday to you all.

Why not just fill out the mock-ups Zazzle has started to keep a uniform, nice presentation instead of making more work for a Creator to feature their product after already designing it. A Creator has to design, invest, and market themselves. How much can a single person really do ?

Well, I would like to thank Zazzle for adding the new pillow mockups. They look great. And, I had made several pillar candles, fancy ones, and they were looked at twice in a year. I switched all the candles to the mockups and in a day they had 5-7 views. It is amazing how that simple mock-up with the flame and a vase brought the designs to life.

Agreed, gardenstyle. I have switched my pillows and candles to the new mockups that Zazzle has provided, and the presentation looks so much better.

you asked—What's a good (and preferably, free) mockup generator?
I googled and found this info about creating mock ups—

Thanks idraw, but I didn't ask. Mock-ups are too time consuming for me, and take away from creative time. I can't keep placed in the search engine as it is. The mock-ups Zazzle provides are fine with me.

Oops, garden style, you didn’t ask, 🙃 but—
The link will still help anyone who wants to learn more.
And I agree with you, mock-ups are too time consuming among other things.

Hi isabel- before you publish your product for sale, click on the mock-up view Zazzle offers which you want to use. Not every product has them. Then it will publish your product with the view you selected. If you forget to choose the mock-up, click on your new product. Across the top of the product on the sale page you will see "Listing Tools." Use "Edit Details" to modify your view. Then in the left column click "product merchandising," then click "change options." The available views will display under your product. Pick what you want and say ok. Then you can go back to your products page. Views sometimes take a day or so to change, but I have found editing misspelling and text usually is visible right away.
