collections and categories headaches

Ok so here we go again with Collections and Categories. Either indexing is not running on a 24 hr window or indexing is busted. How do I delete a Collection? How do I delete a Category? In each instance, neither the particular Collection or Category has any products.

Is it too much to ask for easily found links to category management and collection management? Having spend years working with UI in libraries (retired MLIS Research Librarian here), I cannot fathom why Zazzle tech staff can't fix the UI in particular the Nav schemes.

If I had developed the present UI while working, I would have been fired. If I had passed this in as a grad school project, I would have washed out.

Don't get me wrong, overall i am looking forward to building my store here, what with Redbubble on it's deathbed, Society6 sucking the $ out of everyone, Cafepress a dinosaur and TeePublic, the child of Redbubble, expected to join RB in the graveyard of ancient ecommerce.

It can take up to 72 hours for categories to start showing products on a brand new store if the indexing is running slow (which could be the case here) so I wouldn't start deleting collections/categories until they start showing as that's asking for a world of pain imo

Firstly, check that your collections are assigned to your store which you do by the edit button within the collection, scroll down at the bottom, make sure the 'visible in stores' is checked and the 'default store' is assigned.

There's a bin icon on the bottom left of the collection's edit page if you do decide to delete (but you could just make it private)

To delete a category - go to All Categories in your store backend (just under your store name on the left hand side and click on the category you want to delete.

There are options to edit, delete or add a new category within that category.

If you have any products waiting to index into that category - I would just leave it and let the indexer do it's business even if it is slow and frustrating.

As time goes by, you'll find patience is key as a zazzler.

Nothing is immediate.
