Designs on the back of greeting cards has changed on me

Over the years I have created many greeting card designs.

Recently I gave someone one of my cards and she wanted to share it on Instagram. So I went to my card store to make sure it was showing as so many products need to be optimized.

I found out that many of my card designs for the backs of the greeting cards have changed. Larger font sizes - running off the card. Lower position - now hidden in part by the Zazzle logo.

I've taken photos both of the messed up designs and also of the same cards I purchased which shows my design was good to start with. Both my physical cards and the ones with issues are the same size of greeting card.

I've created a sharing link in Dropbox so you can view the images.

I'd like to know what caused the problem and also how to fix it.
If I go to either the Edit Design or the new Modify Design it makes me post it for sale and I lose all of my sale stats etc. and it changes the date it was posted.
Thank you, Angel

Not everyone has access to the "Replace Product" feature.  You may not.

There are a variety of reasons why you may be seeing "issues" with the backs of your cards.  It started a long time ago when Zazzle allowed us to design the entire back of the card.  Shortly after that they added an attribution feature.  At first it was a white stripe with a heart and the word Zazzle.  Then our stores were added to the stripe.  Then on some, but not all cards, the white stripe was replaced with a white box with a QR code within it.  Some cards still have the white stripe.  I do believe at one point folks reported the QR code inside one type of card and many have discussed its placement on postcards....

The other thing that could have affected your cards is that Zazzle recently replaced many fonts, mostly if not all were script fonts.  There are many posts in the forum where people describe Zazzles magic fix as not quite getting things right...  funny things have been happening... ie text size, odd swooks and ligatures, etc...  This is currently on going so I know of no easy fix if that type of stuff has happened to your cards...

There is no easy fix if you do not have the replace product option.  Remake and loose stats or perhaps someone knows of a way to request access to the replace product feature.  I know in the past that Zazzle granted designers its use to correct cards that needed to be fixed.

Best wishes,

PC

When you go to "edit design" and fix it there should be a "replace product" option in addition to the post for sale option. I had to fix 100s or cards. There was a change made a long time ago that created this weirdness, but we have to fix them and submit for approval.

I don't know if it's just that I'm on a Windows laptop but I can't get the "replace product" option on either Firefox or MS Edge.

Thank you for sharing your experience, it gives me hope that I can get them fixed, because I've had to practically close my store.

When you do use that "replace product" option does the end result keep your original creation date and sales stats?

I'm on a windows 11 desktop using chrome. But I don't think that should make a difference. Once you go to edit details, make your changes, click done, there should be a "replace" option. Once you've gone through the replace option the product goes into review and then a few days later is updated with your changes. All of your old stats are intact.

I was under the impression that the testing for this feature was done and that everyone had access to it now?

The replace feature is definitely not available to everyone.

Definitely no Replace option for me.

Wow! 🤣😋🤣   🌟🌟's

Someone who actually listened to what I was saying. That I did not have that tool.

Thank you too for the explanation of how my designs got all messed up. And a hint of how to get access to that tool. You've made my day!

These posts were August 2022...it's now May 2023 and I still don't have access to the "replace it" button...since I'm cleaning up and revising some products in my store, it would surely be nice to have it. Anyone have any new info on how to get it?

@vhCreativePhoto

If my memory serves me correctly. Only some people were able to access that tool because they were BETA testing it for Zazzle. Unfortunately, their feedback was negative, so it seems highly unlikely any of the rest of us will ever see it.

I deleted a lot of card designs, some are sitting in a hidden category waiting for me to fix them. But doing either loses all of your states for that design, so I used screenshots so I can see how successful or unsuccessful each design was, before deleting it.

Revising a design also makes it a new item for sale and again the stats are lost.

Please let me know if you hear anything about this tool being made available to us. I would like to try it out too.

I love the cover on your horse calendar. Beautiful!  ❤️

Thanks, Angel! I hadn't thought about screen shots to preserve the stats, but that would definitely be helpful. One thing I have done, is leave the "old" design in the store and include a "link" to the new, revised design at the beginning of the description of the older design. Although it doesn't actually form a link, a customer could copy/paste to move to the newer design. It seems to be the only option for now, so returning customers don't get frustrated looking for what they have been purchasing.

Thanks for the comment on the horse calendar. I have a friend who has a therapy horse farm and I go visit sometimes to get pictures of all her wonderful animals :).

Have a great day!

And the stats on the management end and the ones on the banner bar are slightly different. I also print to pdf the whole public product page because the product ID number and date of creation and tags are at the bottom. And that way if I expand the description I also have the description that I can copy and paste later if I need to.

I hope the the link works. I once had a design that had 500 cards purchased by one person. First they bought 250 and then came back and bought another 250. The name of the customer was a business, so I thought they might be passing them off as their own, and I deleted that one and put my name on the replacement one. They never came back. Probably because their original link just showed that it was gone. So I like your idea. Hope it works.

I like how you put the reason for the change in design etc.

Thank you for sharing your fix it.
