Main View Counter Absolutely Useless

What is the point of having the view counter on your main products page (in the backend of your store where you can see number of sales, last viewed, etc. under each thumbnail) when it's always wrong? And it's been like that for months as far as I can tell. For instance, if I check this product below:

VIEWS1.png

It tells me I've only had 2 views, right? I think nobody is interested in this product at all. And yet, when I check the Insights page, I get a plesasant surprise when seeing this:

VIEWS2.png

and this:

VIEWS3.png

And, this isn't the only product that shows this anomaly.

Just WHAT is going on here? 🙄 🤔

Hey @GraphicAllusion,

Can you send on a link to the product in the screenshot please.

Thanks!

I'm having the same problem, only it's with all of my products. When I look at the view counter, it says 1. But going into the insights page for each product, most of them show a much higher view.

This baby blanket for instance, shows 1 view on the overview, but the insights show 10 in the last week:

Yeah, my dog bed was just an example as I'm having the same issue with several other products too. Something has been off with that main view counter for quite a while, I suspect. It's just not updating how it should, and as that's the main (and the first) stat we see when we look at our products it's just not good enough. This is the stat that (well at least I do) you decide if it's worth promoting, expanding the product line (if you think it's popular that's always worth a shot), and many other decisions are made based on that number on that page. I've even deleted stuff in the past with little views so this is very, very important to get right.

This has been going on for a while. I believe I mentioned this is a similar thread. I always check my new products after publishing. This double checking process has always been the first view.
New products, therefore,  always register as 1 view.  I had pages and pages of supposedly unviewed new products. I even tested with friends and family...but no improvement 😞

Having the same issues with views not transferring over to the back end

but when you view insights

Hopefully it's still on the 'to fix' list

@GraphicAllusion did you ever hear anything?

Hey @Sara_H,

Sorry to hear this issue is affecting your products as well. I have passed this along to the team as another example of this issue.

You know how the view counter is often out of commission? I wonder if those views are forever lost for the back end?
