Product Category Navigation

When navigating through Zazzle stores as a customer I found that the category navigation is not filtering the products based on category once the Category Thumbnail is selected. I have the same experience on my phone and desktop.

I am  curious if anyone else is experiencing the same technical issue.

Thanks!

Me too! I tried desktop using chrome and samsung tablet.  I don't even see Category on my tablet, only department. Not sure if it ever was there. So when I click category or department and get the dropdown and click a category, nothing happens. The page stays the same. I also experience this with typing something in the store search, nothing happens. When signed in, the category on the left in the backend works but category does not work when I view public storefront.  So a customer at the moment can only see what comes up at first. Not sure how longs this has been happening but my sales have been terrible.

I noticed the search is not working either after I created the thread.  Thank you for adding the search issue and screenshot. Hopefully we hear from Z soon.

Yes, same here, when I'm not signed in or viewing "public storefront". And not only that, under products, when "popular" shows up as the default (as it's supposed to), you can't change it to "newest", or any of the other choices. Since yesterday evening, pst, 2/16. Happening on 3 different browsers: Safari, Firefox & Chrome, all on my mac.

Please fix!

Thank you for adding the results of your test Marcia. I hate contacting CS if I am the only one having the issue.  Hopefully more creators will chime in to help Z with their troubleshooting.

@HeatherM
You are right, it isn't working from customer viewpoint, same tech issue for me. Thanks for reporting it.Just talked to a friend/customer of mine who was frustrated and having trouble finding things in my shop, had to explain to them that it was a z issue, not anything they were doing wrong.

Do you know if Z reads the technical issue threads or if we need to contact support?

I am having the same issue. I logged out, cleared everything and then checked as a customer would, on Chrome, Waterfox and my Fire tablet. Clicking on the category takes me to all products, instead of the category products.

I also have this issue and it's so frustrating. When I'm on logut or in public storefront view, clicking on the category takes me to all products, instead of the category products. Looks like a total mess and all the organizing work of the store is useless.

Thank you, once again working for me!

Works for me, thank you!  One related question. As a customer (I'm not logged in) I see Department and Category dropdowns on a desktop but only departments on my tablet. Is that how it should be?

Let me preface this by stating that my question is with regard to Category Trees and their structure on Zazzle. I feel this may also have something to do with why the Categories FREEZE on mobile and desktop. It could be the way they are structured and nested.

How many MAIN VISIBLE store categories should shopkeepers have and how many subcategories should be nested under MAIN STORE/PRODUCT categories. I know that this is a bit off topic but I have posted my questions in Store Management and Ask A Question and have not received responses. This topic is NOT covered anywhere on or off Zazzle.

Do store categories affect SEO and how many CATEGORIES should customers have to navigate to find what they are looking for. How many clicks should it take to locate items within a store?

Yes  I have read the article Zazzle provides regarding Store Categories. I have also bookmarked Zazzle's Site Map.

Are their BEST PRACTISES for STORE CATEGORIES both VISIBLE and HIDDEN?

Examples of good Category Trees and their structure would be helpful.

Again I feel this might be a factor in why the CATEGORIES FREEZE.

Any information anyone can provide is needed and appreciated. Thanks.
