This is an existing Zippo I published a long time ago. According to the back-end details, it was at 15.5% royalty making a list price of $39.30 which did correctly match up to the $39.30 list price shown on the product page.
I just went in and changed the "retail price" to a nice even $39.95 which upped the royalty % to 16.9
and much to my surprise the new list price of $39.95 is already being shown on the product page. I am assuming from that then that this existing product is correctly figured - $39.95 = 16.9%, 16.9% = $39.95.
So OK, the problem is I am wanting to publish a brand new Zippo at the same $39.95 list price.
But if I type that same 16.9% in the "Royalty Percentage" field on the post-for-sale of the new product, it gives me a list price of $52.55 instead of $39.95.
If I instead type $39.95 in the "Retail price" field, it results in a royalty of 5% and a list price of $45.95. Huh?
I don't know what to make of this. I am fine with figuring "royalty you will make" and all other breakdowns on my own, but all calculations are entirely dependent on trusting the two main figures Zazzle calculates first - the "Royalty Percentage" and corresponding "Retail price", and vice versa.
After a long dry spell of doing anything new I am finally in the right 'place' and eager to publish some new design lines but am stymied by this step of setting the royalty on the post-for-sale page as I don't know what to trust.
For this particular example, what do I need to enter where to ensure a list/retail price $39.95, and is 16.9% the actual correct corresponding royalty % for that?? A definitive answer here will hopefully help me (and everyone else) navigate this step in the publishing process until this glitch is fixed.
Thank you.

@ColsCreations Your original was published on the Street Chrome zippo which is one of the cheapest options. The Classic Metallic Red as shown in your screen shot is an up charge of $12.60 (the red matt is + $5.75) I think that's the difference you're seeing

You are absolutely right! I somehow missed the significant upcharge for the metallic red finish. That's why when I tried to enter $39.95 as the retail price it kept defaulting to 45.95/5%, because 39.95 is below the minimum rate for that choice.
I was looking at other Zippos in the MP and the amount of the upcharge for that finish is not consistent from one lighter to the next so it must be dependent on the royalty the designer chose. Interesting. I thought upcharges were always standard and not effected by the designer's chosen royalty rate.
Anyway, thank you for solving my duh! moment for me. 🙂
