Sherpa and Fleece Blankets Background Image Leaves Edges On Medium Size

I recently designed this snowman blanket and when going through each size to make sure all looked well, I noticed that on both of the Sherpa and Fleece blanket products that when switched to the "Medium" size that the background image doesn't reach to the edges of the blankets.  At first, I decided to only offer the largest size for sale, but I wanted to allow for size options.  This is how the image looks on Large and Small sizes compared to how it looks when the Medium size is chosen.

Here are the links to both sherpa and fleece blankets. Can this please be fixed?

@SJoy

I took a look at your first link.

I think it's because of the image ratio. Notice the Large size is exactly 2x the measurements of the small, but the Medium size is a different ratio.

Available in 3 different sizes: small (30"x40"); medium (50"x 60"); large (60"x 80")

You might have to design it exactly for each size and then make the design available on that size only.

Thank you for your comment.  I placed the image of my painting as the background and just figured it should automatically fill the background regardless of product size chosen (which IMO should happen regardless).  I was hoping it was just a glitch and that it would be fixed.  If not, I will have to design separate listings for each size.  It just makes it easier for the customer if they could choose from one listing. I doubt many shoppers would search around looking for the same design but different size if it wasn't already offered on the product listing (though, I could be wrong).

Since Medium is a different aspect ratio designs are going to fill the canvas differently. This thread has a tip for such cases without having to publish in multiple sizes.

Thanks for your input and directing me to that post. I tinkered with the image some but still not at all to my liking.  If you set an image as a background image, it should fill the background design area regardless of the size chosen. Unfortunately, Zazzle doesn't have it set up that way, which is a huge let down at the moment.  I may just do as others have stated and make each size a different product so it will look good and place them in a collection. I appreciate everyone's response and @ColsCreations for enlightening me on this.

I've never understood the advantage of using the Background Image layer as you can't adjust the size or positioning of your image, but I just played around with it with a fleece blanket. It seems to be same as putting your image on a regular layer where if it doesn't fit it doesn't fit, it's not automatically being upsized to cover, but there's no way to tweak it like you could if it were on a regular layer.

Here's a blanket where I added the image to the background layer and then used the Products tab inside the design tool to view the canvas at the different sizes. You can see that the image itself does not change size but the green guideline designating the print area does. So you can see that my image is OK for the Large and Small but not wide enough for the Medium that has a different ratio.

To fix the gaps on the Medium size, I stayed on that view in the Design Tool and manually "tiled" the image to the left and right. Result is one product that works for all three blanket sizes. Live example here. Whatever you added to fill the gaps on the Medium doesn't show on the other two sizes as it's out of the print area for them.

Like I said, I don't understand the advantage of the Background layer so have never used it but yes, I too would have expected it to automatically adapt to whatever product size is chosen. But whether you use the background layer or not, you can use the Product tab to check your design at all sizes and adjust it accordingly.

Thank you for that info ColsCreations. I knew that tool was there because I look at it to see if there's a guide file for the product. But I didn't know there was the option to choose the other sizes right there too. 😃

I also love how you included a Live Sample - wish I knew how to do that, but maybe down the road. I'm learning the new Collections procedures now.

SJoy,

While I was trying to find the option that ColsCreations was talking about, I found something you might find helpful. It's new to me so I haven't used it yet.

I work on a windows desktop so at the top there is the Edit menu, go right to the Settings tool. In the drop down menu there is the option to LOCK or UNLOCK the ASPECT RATIO.

Maybe this will help you with your fleece blanket designs. 😊
