I have left a comment in the new forum here and was surprised to see that I am labeled a visitor. I have not added as much as others do in the past. Since we are starting over in the community, I noticed everyone has a label as a contributor or visitor.

Just give it time... it appears to be based on posts, so you'll move up the more you post. Plus - as far as I can see it's meaningless... Some boards use the rankings for privileges, like you may not be allowed to post images until you have X number of posts (which some boards use to control hit and run spammers a bit). Here it doesn't look like there's any thing that's given or denied based on your designation.

It is related to how many posts/replies you have made. When you go up in rank you will receive a notification which says "You ranked up to " and then "New Contributor" and when you rank up again you get "New Contributor II"

According to the Khoros Software forum, which this forum is based on, it could be based on time. It could also be based on an algorithm which uses time, posts, logins, accepted solutions and kudos all together or just a few of those to determine ranks.

I have been busy with other PODs and recently discovered the change here. It does look a lot nicer than the old forum. Makes sense with the contributor labels.

I am not even sure it's related to posting. I think at this point, it's only related to time since original log in. I posted a crazy amount the first few days because I was trying everything out. But my rise through the ranks was not any more meteoric than anyone else's.

Though I have not been on the forum as much as others, it is good to keep up with what is going on. Nice add with your Easter stuff.

I am thinking it may switch to engagement at some point, but for now, I believe it to be time related. The spammer a few rows down made one post yesterday, and has ranked up to New Contributor, whereas the OP in this thread, with 5 posts, and who may have joined just now, is still Visitor. You and I joined same time-ish, I think, and have same rank. Please do NOT look at how many posts I have made on this forum at this point. (I say, as I wonder how many more posts I will make as I wait for the that olympic thing I SO want to see....)

It concerns me that there were at least two spammers postings in the last 5 hours - both attached non-Zazzle links. I reported them, but I would hate if their posts gave them ANY weight over time (hoping the software has something to deter that, especially when their posts are eventually deleted.)

We don't need spam here. Hopefully Zazzle can solve it.

- Here’s the rank order—(from what I researched)
Visitor
New contributor
New contributor II
New contributor III
Contributor
Contributor II
Contributor III
Don’t know if there are any further ranks.

Good breakdown. My question was when I first joined and wondered how to rank up. But it really didn't take that long.

Yes, I am. Though I think I will keep this thread going just in case others question it as I did.

As someone who has been on Zazzle and active in the forums for 12 years now, I am feeling incredibly stupid the last couple of months when it comes to the new forums. I finally figured out how to post images, I can't find an explanation about what an "Explorer" is vs. a "Contributor". I've posted hundreds of forum posts since 2010 and have multiple stores with thousands of products for sale and have a Bronze Seller status - so why am I not considered a "Contributor"? (and does it actually matter what my status is to this community?) - Also, is there anywhere here (a link...?) that contains a more detailed set of instructions for forum users beyond the very limited, general instructions on the FAQ page?

It is just a forum rank that is obtained by several things you do, plus time. I believe there is nothing for you to do or worry about.

Some people love posting on forums, some not so much, and neither of those things has anything to do with quality, which seems more a result of experience. What I've found is that those who've learned the ropes and share that knowledge are the true MVP'a.
