About collections

Does anyone know how the system chooses the first collection displayed on the product page? I have items in several collections and would like to know the criteria to be able to decide which collection appears first.

Thanks in advance!

@chriiisss

I'm not sure if there is a way of arranging which collection appears first on the product page. (though I could be wrong)

I once thought it was alphabetical but recently it seems to be the first collection that the product was added to is first and then the ones that follow with the same criteria. (ie in order that the product was added to those collections)

I really have no idea and apologize for this non answer 🤣😂

@Sara_H thanks 🤣

I thought that too (the first one) but no, I checked in some items.

Maybe the last one we change (title or tags ...).

I really wanted to know this, for me it's really important! let's see if anyone knows concretely how this works.

I thought it was that the first collection you added a product to was the one that showed up on the product page. It seems to hold true for me. If the "wrong" collection is showing up, I'll sometimes remove the item from that collection, and then put it right back - that seems to reset the system and put that particular collection at the back of the line, so to speak. It seems to work for me, but maybe I'm missing something.

All that being said, it would be REALLY nice if this was a parameter that we could set somehow.

thanks @Cat

what I don't understand is the criterion that leads to showing another collection on the page of the article after some time (not the first collection where we submitted them).
always moving products around doesn't work for me and it drives my perfectionism crazy 🙂

If you go to your 'collections' page in any of your stores (or on your home page), it should say 'Organise' at the top. Click on this and then you can move the collections into the order you prefer. Remember to click 'Done' afterwards, or it won't save the changes.

@Marblewave Does changing the order of the collections impact which collection will appear below the product on the product page?

I don't know. Apologies - I misunderstood the question.

No worries! I was just hoping there was some secret that I was unaware of!
