Collection Photos

How do you make collection photos?  I'm doing a total store revamp.  I think I've got the concept of product photos and I've been making those in Canva.  Not very well but better than nothing.  However, I'm stumped on collections.  Guidance?

It's the same concept as product photos but with 2-4 items from the collection instead of just one. Isolate them and give them a new background, optionally also include the title of your collection.

When creating collage covers, keep proportion in mind (I know it’s challenging to include several products, so do your best). For example, a blanket is the largest item, followed by a notebook, and then a coffee mug. Don’t make them all the same size and don’t make the blanket the same size as the coffee mug. Any disparity in size may confuse customers and prevent them from exploring a collection further.

Also, keep the background simple - a simple neutral color with a slight gradient will do. You want your products to be the focus, not your background. If someone steps forward and says, “great background,” you know it’s become the focus of your cover photo.

Sizing was my biggest concern!  I wasn't sure how to approach that issue.  I'm struggling with using Canva for the individual products and feel completely overwhelmed to create something that scales properly.  Should I be doing a neutral gradient background on my individual products as well?  I've been trying to put them more in a use type setting.  Works great for mugs and tshirts but not a lot of other things.  I've recently given up Photoshop and switched to Affinity so I don't have as much to work with.

I mostly use neutral backgrounds with a gradient for my product cover photos. Sometimes I find mock-ups with a background where the product is still the focal point, so I use them. I typically use mock-ups that I find on CreativeFabrica, PlaceIt, and occasionally Etsy. I have a favorite mock-up shop on Etsy that I tend to stick with because the background style is always consistent, I can request custom mock-ups, and it helps me maintain an easily identifiable brand.
