Copyrighted Material

What I find interesting is that while searching Zazzle I find all kinds of what Zazzle would consider "Copyrighted Designs" be it an image, wording or other. I've had many designs rejected only to find that the same designs are allowed in the Zazzle marketplace without being removed. I have also found that some of my items that Zazzle would consider "Copyright Infringement" I had sold similar items in the past with no problem. It seems to me that content control is like "pick and choose" with no real guidelines to follow. For example I purchased one of my own designs an Ernest Hemingway poster with a quote about Cats. Later I attempted to make more items using the same design and it was rejected. Is content control all about who is actually reviewing your content and some will let designs slide and others may not? The market place is flooded with all kinds of so called "Copyright Infringement" that's never been removed it makes searching what is a valid product much more difficult. It needs to be cleaned up.

Often, copyrights on either an image or text isn't caught until a customer tries to buy it because that's when human eyes see it. Otherwise, it's an algorithm running, one that's fairly good at it but not perfect. That may be some of what you're seeing. When it comes to Hemingway, it seems some things are in the public domain and some aren't. It's that way with Mark Twain where, if it's old enough, it goes into the public domain.

A few years ago, I spotted Holly Hobbie images all over Zazzle, those images being trademarked. I reported a number of them but then gave up. There were just too many of them.

Was it your Hemingway image or the quote that was rejected, or maybe a tag? Did you respond to the rejection notice to get more detail on what was wrong?

Actually since I was able to purchase the poster I was fine until I tried adding the design to other products that got refused. I guess my main concern is that not being able to know if what your purchasing is fine to purchase until after you made the purchase and you get a "cancelled order". Sometimes I buy from Zazzle but it's a pain to not know if what you are buying will end up rejected for some reason or rather.

Was everything the same right down to title and tags when you added it to other products? I'm wondering if you changed any of the text for the products. That's why I asked if you replied to the notification(s) for them. The notifications always make it seem it's the image, but more often it's text and tags.
