Do videos work for promoting your products?

Hello dear Zazzle creators! I also, like many creators add in product media manager small videos for my collections, but if to be honest, I did not notice any difference in promotion. Please share your observations is videos help you to promote products or not?

A friend of mine who has a very successful store on Zazzle went through the gamut to add videos to a great deal of their products, only to find that all of those products saw a significant drop in sales. Many of these were products that sold all the time for them, so they were quite surprised by the sudden drop. They decided to actually remove all of the videos after that and saw their sales return to normal. I was already on the fence about adding videos to my products but am choosing not to (at least for now) after their experience. Personally, I think videos are a good idea for social media marketing but not so much for promoting on the Zazzle marketplace itself. I think it's creating an unnecessarily busy looking shopping experience.

@HoneyBlossomA That's good to hear. Making cover photos of individual products, optimizing old, hidden products & actually designing something new (for once!) have filled up my time completely. I just don't have the time, know how or desire to add videos to this already consuming mix of daily chores. 😏😳😬

First, I do think in promoting videos on social media is much better, versus product promoting.  The average social media user would rather see a video, and be shortly entertained, than see a random advertised product that they may or may not even need and scroll paste it - not even thinking about it.
But, let's say it's a coffee mug.  And there's a number of sides to actually see on those mugs - a short video as your secondary cover image would be good.  This would allow your customer to actually see a mug all the way around, in a more natural way than several pics do.  *Time is being factored in, when you only have a few seconds to grab a scrolling customer.  It an extra bonus if someone's actually looking for a mug or something like it.
Collections are good for showing videos, and promoting them.  Most social media's like Pinterest, TikTok, X, FB, YouTube and Linkedin actually want short videos.  Short videos are better I think, unless you really have more of a story to tell.  TikTok and YouTube will actually support videos that gain an audience and become more influencer styled.
I'm more into gif style videos that I put on my collections, right now, that can be made on Canva, where  products rotate around for a few minutes.  Easy to do, and promote them on social media too.

Hi, thank you for your great feedback!❤️ Your answer is very interesting and useful!
