Good practice - same design, multiple products?

I've researched this question but wasn't able to find any questions that asked this.

On one of the Zazzle video chats, they don't recommend using the same design on multiple products because Zazzle automatically displays products with your design on it when some is viewing your product. However, I see a lot of sellers have multiple products with the same design on it, and one youtuber recommends doing it. Do you see your sales improve one way or the other, or do you think it doesn't matter?

Right now I'm thinking to put different designs on different products and tell people they can transfer my designs to any products they want. But it would be nice to hear what you think.

I think Zazzle meant putting the same design on multiple variations of the same product, such as all the different phone cases. While customers CAN (and often do) transfer the design to another product, when they do the original search, they won't find your design if it isn't on the particular product they are searching for. For example, if you have posted a monogram design on a mug, the customer can theoretically transfer that design to a clock, but if they come to the Marketplace and search for "monogram clock" your design won't show up! So you want to post the design on a variety of suitable products, at least the most common products that it is suited for, so customers have more chance of finding them. But you don't have to post the same design on every size of mug, or every model of phone case, because those are things that the customer can select when they get to your main mug or phone case listing.
