Hello!
I tried making my first foil card today but it doesn't look like foil in the preview! I couldn't find any instructions for how to do it so I just guessed, based on looking at other cards on the site. I uploaded the foil layer with the graphics (snowflakes) in black and set the filter to 'solid' as this was recommended for graphics. But in the preview of the card the foil snowflakes still look black. Should I be uploading the foil layer with the graphics in a silver colour? Confused!

I don't want to risk ordering 5 cards to see if it looks right in case it doesn't, plus I can't see anyone else ordering it the way it looks at the moment.
Many thanks,
Elaine

I think you did it right. You want foil snowflakes mixed in with the printed ones, right? It's just that Zazzle's mockups for these foil & print cards are just terrible. They use a rounded gradient to simulate the foil in the preview (lighter in the center of the foil area, darker around the edges.) Problem is it just doesn't work well on small things because you don't get any center area. Anyhow I've been making my own covers for them - takes me forever to come up with a better rendering of the foil area, but it's worth it because as you say, it's hard to imagine anyone buying them from Zazzle's previews.
Here's an example of one where I've created my own cover/mockup: Classic Elegance Burgundy Red Formal Wedding Gold Foil Invitation | Zazzle

Thank you so much, that's really helpful. Your invite looks lovely! I'll have a go at replicating the foil effect on the snowflakes in Photoshop. This is why I've started on Christmas cards in gorgeous sunshine in May!

I do see a small difference between the front and the inside prints. On the cover, the random dark snowflakes have light specks that I assume to be the rendering of the silver foil.

Thank you - I think it's trying to show it as foil, but the snowflakes are too small for it to show up! I'm now assuming when the actual foil is added it'll look better!

If the gold foil does not display well on small items and customers can’t see them on their monitors, would increasing the size of the stars fix the display problem?

Thank you - yes I think they're a bit small for Zazzle's preview to work!
