How do I resize the text field to fit the text?

ACK! I'm going crazy. Before I grabbed the middle square on the text field and pulled it to get the text to fix on one line. Now, I can't. It resizes it. Holding the shift button also resizes it. What am I missing?

@ZBug in the Design Tool- dropdown - look for Settings - Lock Aspect Ratio -  untick it and that should sort the text out so you can resize

This has been giving me fits too - apparently, not only do you have to uncheck "lock aspect ratio" you also have to grab it by the side anchor, NOT the corner anchor, otherwise it resizes the text.

Thank you that works but there is too much difference in this. I am either just getting too old to remember all the little changes involved in designing.

@kashmier  it's been changed since 2023 (this is an old thread) - now you have to hold shift as you drag to stop it from resizing your text
