One insitu image is blurry, another looks good

I just created my first tablecloth using the tiling feature in the design tool. The in situ image of a corner of the tablecloth is blurry, but the final image showing it on the table looks great. Because I'm new at this, I realize the problem could be with me! Here is a URL to illustrate what I mean:

Thank you!

I have heard from Zazzle staff (via email -- but it's been years since I have communicated with them via this medium). 🙂 Most days, it's through feedback on a Community forum post.

I have not sold any of my tiled tablecloths recently 😉 (and just a handful over the years).

For big blankets and products with large design areas, I use A Sharper Scaling (for Windows PCs only) to upscale the images, but the latest version of Photoshop also has much, much improved algorithms (over their predecessors) to do the same.

Tiling can be an issue when it comes to creating seamless designs. This is why I sometimes just create copies and manually align by eye and hand. More of a PITA, though. 😉

PS2. I have The X-Files to thank for many of these odd words!! 😉 😉 🙂

Kate,

it's not you ... I have also noticed this for my tiled tablecloths -- the corner tablecloth insitu is also very blurry!
(or maybe we're both suffering from a folie a deux. 😉 )

Hi! Thanks; it's good to know I'm normal. Whew! So have you ever gotten a response from a staff person? You still sell yours even with the blurry image? Oh! Another question: Is there another way your create these big blankets and things that gets a better result?

I'm sneaking in something else I just noticed: tiles not lined up in the corner in situ. <Sigh>

P.S. Folie a deux is a definite possibility, bien sur!

I use Illustrator 2023, no Photoshop. When you say "A Sharper Scaling (for Windows PCs only)," that means no laptops? I actually did create an actual size tablecloth in Illustrator. Incredibly tedious, and ended up with a H.U.G.E. PDF file that nobody liked, including the Image Browser. I think this is a bust, then. Which is really too bad; I think this design would make a really lovely tablecloth. Thanks anyway, Hui. 🙂

Windows laptops are good, too. A Sharper Scaling has been around for many years. It's still my go-to for image digital interpolation. 🙂 It doesn't like transparent backgrounds on PNGs or GIFs though ... turns the resulting image into one flat mess.

I think you can still export your Illustrator design as a SVG file. Then you don't have to worry about creating it at the actual maximum size of the product in question, since SVGs should be scalable to any desired size. 🙂
