originally published in 日本語 (日本 ???

I was optimizing some older products today and noticed this in the backend on one of my keychains This product was originally published in 日本語 (日本).  As I've never published any of my products anywhere but the US site I'm just curious as to why it would say that...

@DIANA

I have always wanted to get to the bottom of this and never have.

I have products published in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Japan, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland, Sweden and United Kingdom.

The only country I have traveled to is the UK as it's where I live.

Pretty sure it's something Zazzle has done for some reason but I can't work out what that reason is.

It could be something to do with getting assigned to an international site which kills any chance of it selling again on the .com? (pure speculation on my part) Who knows?

I've stopped worrying about it. You can't change that designation (unless you recreate the product but then the product would lose all it's sales stats etc and you can't guarantee it wouldn't happen again)

I think we just have to keep the curiosity and never get the answer 😂

Perhaps it relates to which server sees the new item first? ???

Curious ... where are you seeing "first published" info? I looked at one of my items and could not find it anywhere, although I think I have run across it before.

@BKMuir

if you have one it will just be under the products title in the back end edit details

eg

It's not on all of them just some.

in theory though if you publish on the .com - it should see the .com server first and not toddle off to another one imo

@BKMuir I saw it when I opened the "edit details" on the product page.  I believe it was under the title and one other spot.  It is not something you'll find on every product--that's why it seemed odd...

I've seen it too and wondered if it was yet another of those weird little glitches, having never published anything anywhere but in the U.S. and on the .com site. Let's hope it doesn't in any way affect visibility and sales.
