pinterest keywords

Hi.

I'm having trouble adding keywords and/or hashtags to my pinterest pins for my zazzle products. These are the steps I do. 1st, I choose a product from my zazzle store and press share and then click on the pinterest logo. Then it takes me to the pinterest website and I save that product to one of my pinterst boards, Then, I press see now, and the pin for that product is displayed but the problem comes when it's time to add keywords. There is no space or slot to type keywords. I have watched many youtube videos and I have sent messages to the pinterest help desk and I cant resolve this matter. It's taking me lots of time from my designing. I would appreciate it if someone could help me. Thanks

Elias

Hi @cosmictraces  - if you are pinning direct from your store, you cannot add hashtags to your description as it automatically pulls zazzle's product description to your pin.

Ideally you should create your own pin of your product (1000 x 1500 dimensions) and create a pin on pinterest directly.

You have more control over your keywords and are to be able to be found on pinterest.

I don't think Pinterest Help Desk will be able to help with this one

So...this means the only "keywords" associated with a pin made directly from your store are those words in the title, yes?  What you have in tags is not factored in?

@Caprice  Yes, that's been my take on it. Though I should, I haven't bothered creating my own pins because, well, because I'm lazy.

Question: If we're in the Promoter program, does creating our own pin wipe out our chance for a self-referral?

Making your own pins does not "wipe out the chance for a self-referral". I have been posting my own pins for quite some time (yes it takes a lot of time) and I continue to earn referrals on a monthly basis.

Thanks, Patricia. Even when not feeling lazy, the question is the one that's held me back.

You just have to use your code when you create a pin. I'm doing this to try to earn some self referrals with my products.

I'm confused.  I made my own pin (didn't click the link from my store) and entered a description. Yet when I look at the pin - none of what I entered is visible. My question: is what I entered floating around in the background somewhere to aid in searches? And if not - what is the point of making our own pins???

Just wondering if anyone can give further thoughts/insights on my question below?

It seems to me that you didn't use Zazzle's pin button, but used your browser pin button.
When you use Zazzle's pin button, you'll be found by the title and description (copywrite) of your product and earn 15% of the sales made from this pin because it has your "cookie", your affiliate code (if your enrolled in the associates program). I guess if you pin with the browser pin button instead of Zazzle's one, you don't earn referrals, it will only add the link to the page without your cookie, even if the pin is automatic and looks the same.

If you feel the titles and description Zazzle provides are not enough, you have to create pins manually (people say manual pins perform better). I'm starting to recreate all mine manually following Pinterest best practices, but I'm honest that I never inserted a hashtag. Maybe someone here can tell me if it makes any difference. I try to focus on using the words I would use as hashtags in my title and my copywrite.
