Yesterday idraw brought to our atenttion that Zazzle now has an AI policy. The most immediately actionable part of this policy for those of us who have already posted AI-containing designs is this:
"All designs that contain any AI-generated content as part of the final composition should be appropriately tagged as #generativecontent in order to avoid any potential confusion among customers."
I thought it meant put generativecontent as one of the tags (can't use # in a tag) while others thought it meant put #generative content in the description or possibly use #generativecontent when sharing on social media. So which is it? Or did this guidance mean something else entirely?

Dear Creators,
We would like to express our gratitude for the feedback we have received regarding the recently developed AI Guidelines. We understand that some of you may have found them unclear, and we apologize for any confusion caused. We developed these guidelines as a starting point to direct those who inquire about AI and its use on Zazzle. Your feedback is essential in helping us understand how our Community uses AI.
Based on your feedback and questions, we have made necessary adjustments to the tagging copy to make it more clear.
Specifically, all designs that contain AI-generated content as part of the final composition should be tagged as “generativecontent” in the product listing. This will help us track trends and usage in our marketplace. Please note that the # is not needed in the tag.
We are committed to listening to our Creators and welcome your feedback as the tools and technology evolve. As we plan to evolve with it, we will continue to engage and collaborate with you to ensure that we are meeting your needs effectively.
Best regards,
The Creator Team

I hope someone from Zazzle will clarify. (I'm mostly commenting to follow this thread.)

Yes! A lot of people have read these threads and acted on them, far more than have posted in the threads. Before I started editing in the tag generativecontent, there were precisely 3 designs with the tag. This morning, there are 986. We need to know if this was the right thing to do.

Thank you for your explanation. It clarified several points. But raised some additional questions.
What if I have used my own photos to create AI art. Is it still "generative content"? And what if I mix my photos and AI art in Photoshop, should it be also tagged?
And what about all those Zazzle designers who buy their watercolor designs from Creative Fabrica without knowing, it's AI art? Is it okay to leave third party artwork unlabeled if artist hasn't mentioned specifically that it's an AI art?

Good questions! And what if the product contains one element that's AI generated, mixed in with other elements that were hand painted, or something that started from an AI generated piece and was edited extensively by hand?

In addition to the excellent questions raised by other Zazzle creators, exactly where in the product listing does "generativecontent" need to appear? In the Description, in the tags, either of these or both?

Ha! Amazing how even the clarification managed to preserve the confusion, isn't it? 😅 I took it to mean that they want a tag that reads "generativecontent" - mostly I got that from the last sentence of this paragraph in Mark's response where he says that the hashtag is "not needed in the tag" so I think that means they want it as a tag, not part of the description (which would make sense since descriptions are not searchable.)
"Specifically, all designs that contain AI-generated content as part of the final composition should be tagged as “generativecontent” in the product listing. This will help us track trends and usage in our marketplace. Please note that the # is not needed in the tag."

Agreed. I have been tagging. I put it in the description a few times but that seems goofy since it's unsearchable and per mod comment, this is to facilitate Zazzle doing the searching as part of their market research. I'd like to add that amongst designers, tagging now seems to be the accepted interpretation. When I commented on April 5, a search of generativecontent brought up 986 results. Now it brings up 8,221. So people have been tagging like mad these last 6 days.
