UK tax self-assesment

Hello!

Can any UK tax-savvy Zazzle designers help me? When you're filling in your online self-assessment, does income from Zazzle count as foreign income? I'm assuming yes as Zazzle is a US company but just wanted to double check. And in that case do I declare it separately from the rest of my income?

Many thanks,

Elaine

Having just posted this I found this reply on gov.uk which says you only need to declare it as foreign income if you've paid tax on it, and as I have the W-8ben form in place I haven't. Is that right??

@LeopardyN You really need to watch some HMRC youtubes or join in their webinars (they have loads and usually send emails to invite you plus you can ask questions directly to HMRC). You don't put it in foreign income as you receive payment in £'s from zazzle uk due to tax treaty with USA//UK though I ain't no tax professional and you shouldn't really take anyone's advice unless they are one. (so feel free to ignore me as I'm not 😂)

I've had 2 accountants tell me to answer 'no' but in extra details, I mention the source and nature of the income, for full transparency in case there is an issue. But as others have said it is important to get your own tax advice. I'm not a tax advisor ..disclaimer disclaimer disclaimer 😉

@LeopardyN

I believe income from Zazzle constitutes foreign income by virtue of it coming from a U.S.-based entity (not the currency you get paid in).

(not a tax advisor) / (not U.K. based)
