Day late here.. lol.. I JUST noticed the upload background image button.. I have a few questions.. if you upload you own background image, is it now available for others to use ? Can you still sell the product? How does it affect digital downloads ? Using my iPad is very different in the tools area than my pc which is being upgraded atm.. so forgive the question.. I do not see the option of moving or resizing added background from my images. Thanks.. forgive me if all of this has been addressed .. I Did try to search for answers before posting and didn’t see it addressed in the forum.

Hi Deb, Not sure if this is what you are asking but I'm pretty sure you can click your uploaded background image and apply the "padlock" which should lock it down and make it unavailable for buyers to do anything with it. If adding it as a "background" does not work for you or give you enough options, just upload your "background design" as a standard upload. You can then place it where you wish and lock it if that is what you are wanting to do. I think we can also crop our uploaded images.
Hope this helps. 🙂

The backgrounds that are available for customers are part of the secondary content program. Secondary Content FAQ – Zazzle Help Center
You have to either be invited into the program or apply and get accepted in order to upload backgrounds that appear in that section for customer use... and those backgrounds have to be submitted separately and be approved by Zazzle before they're available so there's no chance of your background getting into that program accidentally. So, no - uploading your own background to your design will not make it part of that program, nobody else will be able to use it, and you can still post your product for sale and/or download.
I'm not really sure what the advantage is of uploading an image to your design as a background rather than just making it a standard layer with the sizing set to "fill." Maybe there's some reason to do it that way that I'm unaware of, but I always just use a standard layer and make it full frame if I want to design something with a background image.

Can you still sell the product? Yes
How does it affect digital downloads ? Not sure, but I wouldn't expect it to be different. I'd adjust the design and have it as a layer instead.

I guess that’s what I was wondering.. the advantage/disadvantage of using my own background image.. I do remember when the background program began.. and am aware that if you use one you are not able to sell.. I have never noticed this add my own background before.. have I just not paid attention to it or is this new? In addition, does it download with the rest of the design on digital downloads?

I don't think it's new, but I've never used the feature - seems like it just gives you less flexibility with the placement & size of the image, but maybe there's some reason to do it that way? I'm curious to hear if anybody else knows the answer because I sure don't!
