W8-BEN Form - Canada (help needed)

Having trouble with W8 form, particularly with Part II. The language I used in past forms apparently “isn’t quite correct”, form was not accepted. Please help!

Just wondering when you got the first one wrong did you reply via the same thread or started all over as I have not heard a response even after I asked them  do I send this back to you via this same thread? I just love the brick wall and no answers from them

I received a reply from support, interestingly enough. In it they told me that the form was “incomplete” and provided that link to IRS table, which was helpful. The email also said to “reply to this email directly with the filled out form.” That is what I did. The follow up email said “We received your W-8BEN form and have forwarded it to be processed by our finance team. We will be in touch when the form is processed and applied to your account or if we have any questions.” No other communication ever since, which I hope is a good sign.

I got confirmation that my W8BEN form was accepted and processed. Here is the information I put in Part II (10):

Special rates and conditions (if applicable—see instructions): The beneficial owner is claiming the provisions of Article and paragraph Article 12(2), (3) / 5P7(1) of the treaty identified on line 9 above to claim a 0% rate of withholding on (specify type of income): Copyright royalties paid for the reproduction of, the use of, or the right to use, artistic works.

Explain the additional conditions in the Article and paragraph the beneficial owner meets to be eligible for the rate of withholding: Beneficial owner is a resident of Canada earning copyright royalties for use of artwork and not subject to tax under US/Canada tax treaty terms of 0% withholding rate for art related copyright royalties.

Look up country “Canada”, column “Royalties”.
