What in your experience is the best default royalty to set for all products in your store? What percentage do you think is the best to choose? I realised the products on Zazzle are not the usual products people can buy in regular stores and I shouldnt have the same prices in my store for products on demand? However when I choose only 5% royalty I made very little money few dollars only. When I choose 25% the profit seem to be much better but my concern is would I be able to sell anything at all. Products on demand are possibly not as say high quality as say famous American Eagle store products which have beautiful high quality clothing, wonderful special professional designs, sales and affordable prices which I am afraid we cant compete with them at all. I love AE and shop there myself always. But I love Zazzle too I didnt buy any clothes yet on Zazzle myself I probably should to see the quality of t-shirts for example, because my customer left review she was happy with quality of tshirt and my design and Zazzle production. I would like to hear your thoughts considering this what royalty would be something expectable to make selling products on Zazzle not to overprice and not to underprice were it's not worth selling and designing. Do you choose different royalty for each product or set one royalty percentage for all products? Please share your thoughts. Thanks everybody.

Such a great question - I was hoping people would discuss this matter a bit.

I'm still in my first year but it's winding down now. At first I had it set to 10% royalty because that was a recommendation I had picked up on YouTube. Then I upped it to 14.99% but the system turned it into 15% and charged the extra fee. I than lowered it to $14.95 and the system still took the extra fee (or so I thought). Even when I lowered it to $14.90 it still happened until I realized that the 5% extra I had seen was for extra things like flag poles, rounded corners on cards etc. so I upped it again to 14.99%. But I kept thinking about it. So many designs I create will never ever sell regardless of my pricing set. The few which do sell will hardly amount to anything more than a pretty low key dinner somewhere out (maybe once per month if I'm lucky?).  So just today I upped it - the royalty to 25%. I might lower it again in the new year or just leave it like this - time will show. Success or failure. Will see.

I'm thinking Zazzle can never compete with Temu (or what ever else is so around) cost wise anyhow but Zazzle offers so much more than just unique, customized items. All those ideas, different styles in so many designs by such a diverse community of designers - just incredible. This should be worth more than just a hand full peanuts.

Again I might lower my royalty again if I sell absolutely nothing in Q4 but I'm going to try it for now.

Maybe some of the more experienced folks will add to the discussion here? I'm hoping for it (kinda).

I've been here since 2010. I think I started with 10%, then upped it to 14.99%. Since then I have set my current percentage to 20.6%. I did not see a significant difference in sales, up or down. The 20.6% was upped from 20.5%, so that I could see what products I have reviewed/updated. The 0.1% difference only slightly alters the final price, but I can tell at a glance if I have reviewed my description and tags.

After sitting down with a calculator, I determined that a royalty rate of 20% would overcome the fee anything set at 15% or higher. That percentage would also increase my actual royalty. I set it to 20% some years ago, saw no affect on my sales, and have never looked back. Oh, and the other POD I'm on has a suggested base royalty of 20% in stark contrast to Zazzle.
