I was curious if having followers on your store improves the visibility of your products on zazzle or impacts your ZRank in any way, or is that metric completely unrelated to your store’s performance? Does anyone have any experience or insights on if and how increasing followers affects visibility or sales?

Following existed over ten years ago when I joined Zazzle, but they wiped it out, then brought it back several years ago, focusing it more on the customer rather than designers following other designers. I'm not so sure customers are into following stores, not that I've seen anyway. Regardless, it has never affected my ranking, order of appearance in the marketplace, or sales.

This is just my guess, I don't think it has any effect.

Thanks so much for sharing your insight! That clears up my question. I was curious if it might have any indirect effect on sales or engagement, but it sounds like it’s more of a customer preference than a significant factor. Appreciate your response!

Yes, having more followers does indeed impact your sales. Zazzle sends out periodic notifications to your followers when you create new products, which helps boost visibility. While I can't confirm whether having more followers directly affects your ZRank, increasing your follower base definitely helps keep your store and products in front of potential customers. The more engaged followers you have, the more likely they are to see and purchase your latest designs, which in turn can improve your overall store performance.

I never noticed any difference in sales at all. It's difficult to say what increases the number of followers other than a batch of newcomers who must follow people in order to complete their stores. Perhaps those who sell a lot of wedding and other special occasion items tend to gather more followers, but it sure doesn't seem to happen for niche types of designers. I've never spotted any of my customers following me, not even those who are repeat buyers. I think followers are a result, not a cause, of sales, and it's sales that cause a rise in the marketplace.
