We are finally taking the dive into photo cards and gifts and have not been able to locate commercial use place holder images. We won't use our family photos or photos of friends... so that leaves us wondering where do so many of you find great place holder images for your products?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I use the Storytree images that Zazzle put in a Dropbox many years ago for a Christmas card contest. You do have to credit them. Link to older thread where I gave full answer:

I sometimes think about asking people I know if they want to participate in this. I would take photos of them, give them a few eight by tens, and in exchange, I would keep the rights to use the session photos as placeholders on Zazzle. So far, have not had the energy to proceed with this.
I also do Postcrossing!

MorgueFile. It’s a place where folks believe stock photography should be affordable for the average user. So photographers load up images that they have taken and offer them copyright and royalty free to anyone who needs them. Some photographers may ask you to tell them how you plan to use their photos (mostly out of curiosity) or to give them an attribute. Some photographers ask for nothing in return. I’ve seen my photos used in car commercials, on dating websites, interior design websites, on greeting cards, oil paintings, engraving machines at PETCO, and here on Zazzle. It’s always fun to see my photos pop up in unexpected places.

I've been reading through their license info and they don't mention anything about model releases. Generally speaking, while the photographer may own the copyright on the image, you're still not allowed to use depictions of people without their written permission - known as a "model release." In general, before using photography with recognizable people in it, it's a good idea to confirm with the owner of the photo that there is a model release - ideally you'd want to have a signed copy in hand, because it's not something the photographer can issue, it has to come from the people being photographed. Same applies to other photo sites like Pixabay and Unsplash.

Exactly. That's why I keep using and sharing the link to the Zazzle Storytree images. Since Zazzle set that up and then gave us access, I trust them to have hired a photographer (Storytree Studios) who got model releases.

After a long bit of searching we have come to the following discoveries... you can find folks on fiverr that will take very specific photos for you if needed. You will need to provide a model release for most of the gigs found there.
Sites like getty images, adobe stock and more also offer solutions if you require people images and they get model release for photos including people and store these releases on there site. I'm still learning more... but thought I'd share as the images we require do involve people and as such, require model releases. These types of sites also have a few different types of license agreements. You do have to do a little research or utilize their live chat or forums to discover which type of license you require depending on your end usage on images you buy/download...
The above do require so investment on your part... they are not free.
A site like morgefile can work if you are not looking for images of people. So they may be a great resource for pet sellers, etc...
Thats all for now.

I've been using Deposit Photos recently, and before that, StoryBlocks. Storyblocks is cheaper, but has a more limited selection, and you have to double-check because not all the images have model releases.
