I'm curious about wine labels and it may be a stupid question. But, for example, if you buy wine for a wedding and then purchase personalized wine labels, what happens to the label the bottle comes with? Do you remove the original label and put the personalized label on, or, are these for people who make their own wine? Just asking.

Good question! I sell plenty of labels designed for weddings, and I can't imagine that the people buying them are all brewing their own wine, so people must be either putting the custom label over the original one or soaking the bottles to remove the original label. I don't think it's legal to sell alcohol in an unlabeled bottle, but maybe there's some exception to that?
I'm sure there's also a market for labels designed for home brewers, but that's not something I have much experience with.
I'd LOVE to hear from anyone who has direct experience here because it does seem like a bit of a mystery to me!

No personal experience but I did look this up once… I think it’s kind of a pain and expensive to jump through the hoops to have the winery custom label your bottles.. (here’s an example- https://www.texascww.com/wine-list/shiners ) so I’d guess most people either stick their own label on top or peel off the winery one… as long as it’s done post sale, and never resold it’s ok to do.

Oh wow! I think "shiners" is the key word here. Found this link with lots of interesting info: https://csa-compliance.com/articles/shiners-a-primer-on-unlabeled-wine/
