Would an rf=id link to the forums stick if a customer goes onto buy

I have an idea kicking around in my head, but before I implement it I need to know if a rfid would stick if the link sent them to them forum, or a forum post, and then went onto purchase something?

I think the answer would be yes, but it could work like chat, where even though you can send someone directly to a chat with you, the rfid would not stick if sent through chat.

Does anyone know for sure?  Feel free to answer here or via chat if you'd like.

Thanks

Zazzle doesn't "strip out" the referral code. If anything, we've taken steps to keep this from happening. If you use our social sharing tools you'll see a URL with a "/z/" that looks like this zazzle.com/z/abc123. This includes the referral information in the URL, and it's stored in a manner that keeps social media sites from (actually) stripping it out. We also added the referral information to the end of the URL. This is totally redundant, and was added because some folks felt better about visually seeing the referral information in the URL.

The referral program was designed to reward you for bringing NEW traffic to Zazzle, so I think it makes sense that referral information be a bit sticky. If we allowed referral information to be updated/overwritten once a user arrives at Zazzle.com it wouldn’t be fair to the folks who put so much time and energy into bringing new traffic to the site. At that point, they’d probably stop referring users to Zazzle and we’d all suffer a bit.

As far as the original question, I don’t think that it will work. Best move will be to ensure you have your referral information included with product shares in the forums here (this should be done by default if you’re using the social share tools on our site). I believe that this forum is considered an external site, so setting a referral cookie in the forums probably will not transfer over. Generally, including rf info can't hurt.

Finally, there aren’t any plans to roll out new features in the forums any time in the near future.

@PacifierCityI'm glad you asked this question. I was curious to know if there was a change in this newer forum as opposed to the old one where they stripped out the rf code.

@LMGildersleeve Ha!  I actually forgot that they used to strip out the rfid's in the old forum... how quickly we can forget certain things...

I do recall that as part of the new forum we will be able to form groups and have a blog.  It would be easy to drive traffic to a post or a blog post when that exists...  It will be interesting to read the response we get.  If its a "the rfid is stripped" then there is little point in sending traffic here and almost no point running a blog though here...  But with all things Zazzle, today's answer could change in the future!  lol.

Thanks for refreshing my memory of the last forum...

@KayeCee  Although  @PacifierCity said this in their post above,

"I do recall that as part of the new forum we will be able to form groups and have a blog."

Scot has said this at the end of his post,

"Finally, there aren’t any plans to roll out new features in the forums any time in the near future."
