You have a message - but can't see it

What's the deal when I get an email from Zazzle saying "You have a message" and I can read part of the message in the email, but when I go to my account/messages page I see nothing except an image of the person who sent it. No text, nothing else. Is it spam that's being blocked? If so, why do I get a 'You have a message' notification?

"If the message is determined to be Spam we'll remove it from your chat listing.

I agree that it may be slightly confusing, but this is how the system works currently. In the future we hope to have things be a bit more seamless so that no notification is received at all."

Someone else just asked this yesterday... It was spam. Zazzle is making a serious effort to not have us bothered by spammers. They are catching the messages and deleting them, but the alert still gets sent. You'll probably get another one in a few days that says you haven't yet replied. You can ignore it. I've never seen them delete something I thought might even possibly be a legitimate inquiry.

Ok, I thought that was the case but it was weird I was able to see part of their message in the email but not on my message page!  Thx.
